About COP30 Simulation Fellowship Programme

The British University in Egypt (BUE) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Egypt, with global academic partners and leading national and international stakeholders, are proud to present the COP30 Simulation Fellowship Programme.

This immersive, certified programme brings together university students from all over the world to simulate the real sessions of COP30, engage with chief negotiators, country delegates, and international climate leaders, and draft powerful youth-driven climate declarations that are presented at the actual COP30.

This year, with the COP Simulation Programme growing bigger, organisers are taking it to the next level by launching the COP Simulation Fellowship Programme. Participants who successfully complete the Programme will receive official certificates recognising their excellence in:

- Climate Diplomacy and Advocacy

- International Negotiation Skills

- Climate Policy Research

This isn't just a simulation, it's a knowledge-based movement. The Fellowship brings together young and informed climate advocates from around the world to collaborate, learn, and lead.

COP30 Fellowship Activities

1. A two-week online capacity-building programme on climate literacy, youth-led climate action, diplomacy, debate, and conflict resolution offered by global academic institutions and organisations.

2. Mentored policy papers on climate-related themes, guided by Egyptian and International mentors from relevant academic and professional backgrounds.

3. COP30 Simulation Conference on the campus of the British University in Egypt. Around 150 students from across the world are invited to Egypt to simulate a country's delegates, chief negotiators, and non-state actors. Discuss and vote on their research-based resolutions. Selected students are invited for a six-day stay in Egypt.

4. The COP30 Simulation declaration. The youth-voted resolutions are presented in the published declaration, which is then presented at the actual COP30.

5. COP30 participation: Around 20 students are selected to present their outcomes and voted climate solutions at the actual COP30 blue and green zones sessions.
