Are you an undergraduate student or a recent graduate? Are you seeking hands-on experience in a great setting? Are you looking for an opportunity to do a traineeship and work hard on things that really matter? If so, then this is an opportunity for you to apply for one of the Court of Auditors' Paid traineeship Programmes, which takes place in Luxembourg for 6 months. The ECA is offering a monthly allowance for all trainees to support their stay in Luxembourg during the traineeship programme.
About the Court of Auditors
The European Court of Auditors (ECA) is the independent external auditor of the European Union, based in Luxembourg. Established in 1977, it ensures that EU funds are collected and used legally, efficiently, and effectively. The ECA audits the EU’s finances, reports on how public money is managed, and provides recommendations to improve financial management across EU institutions and Member States. Its findings help the European Parliament and Council hold the European Commission accountable for the proper use of the EU budget, promoting transparency and trust in EU spending.
About ECA Traineeships
The ECA offers an excellent opportunity for a traineeship, providing the chance to contribute to meaningful work that helps shape the future of Europe and its citizens. The aim of the traineeship programmes is to give European students and graduates valuable first-hand experience in EU public administration. Applications are open for various fields, including audit, translation, communications, institutional relations, legal services, administration, library management, IT, and artificial intelligence.
Each trainee is assigned a supervisor who supports their integration into the team and oversees their tasks. As an audit trainee, you will assist experienced auditors in evaluating the effectiveness of EU policies, identifying possible improvements, and detecting financial irregularities. You may also have the opportunity to travel with your team to other EU countries to conduct on-site audit work. In non-audit departments, you will take part in ongoing projects, collaborating closely with team members under the guidance of a project manager or senior staff.
You will spend a lot of time with your fellow trainees. ECA trainees all start on the same day, in a cohort. Experiencing the traineeship together usually means that our trainees become a close-knit group. As well as the practical experience they gain, they also form a network of contacts that lasts long after the traineeship has ended.
To do a standard traineeship with the ECA, you must:
- be a national of an EU member state;
- have completed at least four semesters of university study in a field relevant to the ECA work;
