An open call for 25 youth workers from across the Erasmus+ youth programme countries who are interested in Mental Health to apply for the training course "Mental Health in Youth Work" which takes place in Norway from 20-24 April 2026. The training course is organised by Bufdir - The Norwegian National Agency for the Erasmus+ programme, in collaboration with the Finnish National Agency of the Erasmus+ and ESC programmes.
About "Mental Health in Youth Work"
Mental Health in Youth Work is an immersive training course for 25 youth workers from across Europe. The training provides a foundation for understanding how youth workers can strengthen and support young people’s mental health, well-being, and resilience, aimed at youth workers who work directly with young people in youth work settings.
The Mental Health in Youth Work training explores the role and competencies of the youth workers in supporting the mental health needs of young people by strengthening their emotional and mental health skills.
The main objectives of the training course are
- Clarifying the understanding of what mental health means for ourselves
- Raising awareness of the importance of mental health in youth work
- Understanding the role of youth workers in promoting mental health in their work with young people
- Developing youth workers’ practical skills in supporting people’s mental health in their work
- Exploring approaches, tools, and resources that can be adapted in the organisation’s work
- Encouraging participants to reflect on their everyday practices with young people
- Enhancing the capacity to create a supportive, inclusive, and stigma-free environment.
Eligibility | Who can apply?
- Youth workers who are working directly with young people daily in a youth-related service;
- Youth workers must be aged over 18 and living in one of the following countries (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Republic of North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland);
- Participants should be interested in developing their competencies in supporting young people’s mental health;
- Participants should be capable of applying the learning in their regular youth work practices and be willing to share experiences and good practices with others
- Participants must be able to speak English at a conversational level.
Important note: This training is not open to mental health professionals, such as therapists, psychologists, and clinical healthcare personnel, nor for teachers and other educators in the field of formal education, such as primary and secondary schools or faculties.
Expenses and Benefits
- There is no participation fee to join this project
- The training activities will take place in Norway; the exact location will be announced later.
- The accommodation and meals will be covered for selected participants between 20 April (dinner) and 24 April (breakfast). Accommodation is in single rooms.
- Travel costs are covered based on the distance between the participant's place of origin and the activity venue, according to the Erasmus+ distance band calculator, as follows:
- from 10–99 km - €28 (standard travel) - €56 (green travel)
- from 100–499 km - €211 (standard travel) - €285 (green travel)
- from 500–1,999 km - €309 (standard travel) - €417 (green travel)
- from 2,000–2,999 km - €395 (standard travel) - €535 (green travel)
- from 3,000–3,999 km - €580 (standard travel) - €785 (green travel)
- from 4,000–7,999 km - €1,188 (standard travel) - €1,188 (green travel)
