Suomenlinna Sea Fortress | Baltic Sea Team Volunteering in Finland (Fully Funded)

An open call for 15 young volunteers aged between 18 and 30 years from 11 European countries to join the "Suomenlinna Sea Fortress Baltic Sea Team Finland" which takes place in Fortress of Suomenlinna, Helsinki, Finland from 30th of July to 14th of August 2026. This Volunteering project is organised in co-operation with The Governing Body of Suomenlinna and funded by the European Solidarity Corps programme of the European Union.

About the Volunteering

The project takes place on the islands of Suomenlinna, a UNESCO World Heritage Site accessible by a 15-minute ferry ride from Helsinki. 15 young volunteers will participate in maintenance, restoration, and landscaping work in the Suomenlinna area and surrounding islands, under the guidance of site management and specialists, as well as take part in shoreline cleaning activities. The work is primarily physical and takes place outdoors under all weather conditions.

During the project, volunteers will participate in a variety of practical tasks that directly relate to the well-being of the Baltic Sea and the sustainability of the Suomenlinna environment. These include landscape maintenance, restoration work, shoreline cleaning, and cooperation activities with local stakeholders. All tasks are tied to understanding, protecting, and caring for the marine surroundings.

Beyond hands-on work, volunteers will receive a detailed orientation on Suomenlinna’s history.
