ESC Team Volunteering with refugees at Mañarikua in Bilbao, Spain (Fully Funded)

An open call for young people from the European Union countries who are interested in joining a two-week volunteering project in Bilbao, Spain. The volunteering project aims to create a team of volunteers from Spain and other European countries to organise educational, creative, sports, and community-building activities with refugees in Spain. The project is organised by the "EDE" foundation and funded by the European Solidarity Corps programme of the European Union.

About the Volunteering

Team volunteering with refugees at Mañarikua is a two-week volunteering project where a team of young people from Bizkaia and other European countries will organise educational, creative, sports and community-building activities with refugees. A practical experience to learn, share, discover other cultures and build community through solidarity.

The group facilitator will help the participants to learn and develop the activities and also to reflect on and evaluate the learning and skills practised during the whole project.


Eligibility | Who can apply?

- Young people aged between 18 and 30 from the following countries ( Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden)

- Volunteers should be available for the entire duration of the project. 

- Volunteers should have the motivation, be open-minded, and willing to learn from others.

- Having a previous experience with children, migrants/refugees, or other groups will be valued but not necessary 

- Creative, artistic, musical, sports or facilitation skills will be valued.

- English is the main language of the project; therefore, participants should show a good command of English, and knowing Spanish, French and Arabic will be valued.


Expenses and Benefits

- Volunteers from outsode "Biscay" will be accommodated at Bilbao Hostel in shared rooms.

- Three meals per day will be provided for all participants.

- Local transport for activities and visits.

- Each volunteer is entitled to receive a pocket money of 84 euros.

- Each volunteer is entitled to get a travel reimbursement for (one return journey) up to the maximum cost as stated in the ESC programme rules, according to the following limits:
  • from 10-99 km: standard travel (23 EUR) / Green travel (23 EUR)
  • from 100 - 499 km: standard travel (211 EUR) / Green travel (285 EUR)
  • from 500 - 1999 km: standard travel (309 EUR) / Green travel (417 EUR)
