Create the urban waste collection equipment for tomorrow is a project organize by Interphaz organization which will be in Lille, France for two weeks in June 2021.
Description
Nowadays the ecological transition is one of the cities major challenges. Cities concentrate a significant part of innovations but they also face many difficulties : pollution lack of vegetation, urban spreading. Interphaz organization would like to invite 10 European young volunteers to design and build together a street equipment for urban waste collection. The idea ? Through recycling or upcycling, many organizations (NGO, associations, companies or local authorities) aim to limit the impact of what we can call « forgotten garbage ».
that means socks, tights, lights bulbs, caps… Some collecting points usually exist in cities but they are often really far one from the other and this doesn’t facilitate their access for citizens. Interphaz wish to create within 15 days a waste collection equipment. The exact shape of the structure is not determined yet, it will be one of the missions for the volunteers. their goal is to offer a specific equipment made with different materials, one for each type of waste.

- Accommodation will be in Youth Hostel for free.
- The Organization will cover food and local transportation costs.
- The Organization will cover Return tickets costs for travelling.
Training during Project
1) Launch and kick-off workshops
- Understanding the goal and spatial allocation
- Joint reflection on urban environmental transformation and waste diversion, meeting with stakeholders, project site and surrounding journey, and mapping
2) Design
- Brainstorm the final thing, its uses, and its location in the city. Modeling workshop with architects specializing in collective design.
3) Investigation
- On-site several workshops to participate in building the final product
4)Implementation and incidental thinking
- An event with all relevant stakeholders to assemble
