If you have a real desire to volunteer and help one of the social centres specialised in caring for adults with disabilities in Austria and carry out some of the activities offered by the organisation, we invite you to apply for this ESC volunteer project in the town of Klosterneuburg in Austria.

The volunteering organised by Melange Program for Volunteering Projects within the frame of European Solidarity Corps in Vienna. Melange is Vienna’s Programme of European Solidarity Corps volunteering projects. It is co-ordinated and implemented by Grenzenlos in close co-operation with wienXtra. The programme is funded by the City of Vienna and the European Commission. Grenzenlos is the coordinating organization and responsible for all technical, logistical and administrative matters around the project but not hosting itself.

About Volunteering

WOHNGEMEINSCHAFT ST.MARTIN is a place of residence for approximately 25 adults with disabilities. It is located in Klosterneuburg, a town near Vienna (about 15 km) in Austria. there are living groups and several practice rooms located in Wohnheim St. Martin, where St Martin's residents work during the day. 

The main task is to provide housing and social reintegration for adults with disabilities. This is done mainly through leisure activities and by providing a place to work. As a volunteer, you will help with the day-to-day work at Wohnheim St. Martin, create leisure activities for customers, help with meal times, accompany customers on excursions, etc. The organisation offers many activities throughout the week such as weekly swimming lessons, visits to friends' families, happy land bowling, projects such as cooking, baking, painting, crafts, making music, learning and playing on the computer make it possible to relax from working in the workshops.

Klosterneuburg is a city with a rich history located north of the Vienna Woods and lies at 192 meters above sea level. there is a high standard of living shaped by the Danube and nestled against the Vienna Woods, it is full of scenic charm. In recent years, Klosterneuburg has developed its modern, future-oriented side and established itself as a city with several leading educational institutions and as a center of groundbreaking scientific research.

Klosterneuburg is filled with activities for every age and interest. There's the"Happyland" leisure center, which offers sports all year round. There are a number of trails for hiking, cycling and mountain biking, and the Strandbad Urban Beach and the extensive Danube wetlands also offer a variety of outdoor activities


Finance and Benefits

- Each volunteer has his/her own room, usually in a student dorm or an apartment.

- You will live with other volunteers or students.

- Every room is fully furnished with a bed, a table and seats.

- You will share kitchen and bathroom with with your flatmates.

- You will get 5 euro per day as a Pocket money in addition to 225 euro monthly for food.

- Each volunteer will get monthly ticket for the Viennese public transport which makes you use bus, Subway, tram, regional train and night busses for free.

Every volunteer has a budget available for language courses and with this budget is free to choose the course of German he/she wants to.

Usually you work 5 days a week with 2 days off weekly ALSO, you can get 2 days as holidays every month but The holidays have to be agreed upon with the host organisation.


Duration

A total of 6 months from 1st of May 2022 to 31st of October 2022.


Eligibility

- Your age between 18 and 30 years old.

You are a resident in one of the following countries:

EU countries, UK, Iceland, North Macedonia, Turkey, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, Serbia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine, Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, Syria, Tunisia, Ukraine, Russia, kosovo and another countries.

- open-minded and willing to and enjoy work with people with disabilities.

- Able to support the staff and the clients with the daily program and activities.

- There is no Language level required to apply.

- You should have a support organisation to apply, If you do not have one yet you can search here for NGO  in your city or nearby to you.
