About Tsinghua University
It is a Chinese public university located in China specifically in Beijing. Founded in 1911, it is a major research university and is a member of the elite C9 League of Chinese universities. Tsinghua has been consistently ranked as one of the best academic institutions in China, Asia and around the world, and the university has been ranked 16th in the world according to the Times Higher Education 2022 classification and 71st in the world according to the QS World Ranking 2022.
Academically, Tsinghua University is divided into 20 schools and 57 departments covering a plentiful amount of subjects and disciplines including science, engineering, arts, literature, social sciences, and medicine. Tsinghua University's campus is located in northwest Beijing and retains Chinese-style landscapes as well as traditional buildings, although many of its buildings are also Western-style and reflect its American heritage.
About Schwarzman Scholars
The Schwarzman Scholarship is an international graduate scholarship program for students to study at Tsinghua University. The program selects candidates based on their leadership ability, academic achievement and demonstrated potential to become the next generation of global leaders who will build bridges between China and the rest of the world. The number of students accepted into the program annually is between 100 - 200 students.
Finance and Benefits
- There is no fee associated with applying to the program.
- If you are selected for the Interview, the program will provide economy class airfare or train fare and one night in a hotel, if needed.
- Expenses for Schwarzman Scholars are also fully covered by the program, including the following: tuition fees, room and board, travel to and from Beijing at the beginning and end of the academic year, in-country study tours, required course books and supplies, a Lenovo laptop, health insurance, and a personal stipend.
Who can Apply?
- All nationalities are eligible to apply for this Scholarship
- Your age must be between 18-28 years old but not yet 29 years of age as of August 1 of their Schwarzman Scholars enrollment year (for the current selection cycle, as of August 1, 2022)
- You must have an undergraduate degree before August 1 of Schwarzman Scholars enrollment year.
- You must be proficient in English language, If the applicant’s native language is not English you should achieve one of these requirements
- Applicants who studied at an undergraduate institution where the primary language of instruction was English for at least two years of the applicant’s academic program
- Have a Certificate of (TOEFL PBT) with Minimum score 600.
- Have a Certificate of (TOEFL iBT) with Minimum score 100.
- Have a certificate of (IELTS) with Minimum score 7.
