IREX community solutions program Fellowship 2023 in USA (fully funded)

The Community Solutions Program (CSP) is a year-long professional leadership development program for people who work to improve their communities by addressing issues related to the environment, peace, conflict resolution, transparency and accountability, women, and gender. Four months of the program will be in the USA and IREX will cover costs of accommodation, living and travel tickets for the participating leaders.

About (CSP) Program

The Community Solutions Fellowship will be a four-month period in the United States: The Community Solutions Fellows are matched with host organizations across the United States where they complete four months of practical professional experience. The Community Solutions Fellows will participate in the Community Leadership Institute, a leadership training program designed to enhance their leadership and management skills. The institute includes face-to-face training, online courses, professional training and networking.


Requirements

- Your age is between 25 and 38 years old as of January 1, 2023.

-You are a citizen of one of the eligible countries listed below.

-You are living and working in your home country now.

- Special consideration may be given to individuals who have refugee status and are acting on behalf of their community of origin.

- Have at least two years of experience working on community development, either as a full-time or part-time employee or as a volunteer.

- You are not currently participating in an academic, training, or research program in the United States.

- You have a high level of proficiency in spoken and written English at the time of application.

- Semi-finalists will be required to take or submit the latest scores in the TOEFL or IELTS English language test

 -You are not a citizen or permanent resident of the United States and have not applied for permanent residence in the United States within the past three years.

- You are eligible for a J-1 visa for the United States.

- You are available to travel to the U.S. for four months from August to December 2023

- Applicants who have participated in a US Government-sponsored exchange program must have met the two-year home residence requirement.

- You are committed to returning to your home country for at least two years after completing the program.

Middle East and North Africa: Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, West Bank/Palestinian Territories.

Africa: Botswana, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guinea, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

East Asia and Pacific: Brunei, Burma, Cambodia, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Republic of the Marshall Islands, Singapore, Thailand, East Timor, Vietnam

Europe: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Turkey, Ukraine.

South and Central Asia: Bangladesh, Bhutan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan.

Western Hemisphere: Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Trinidad, Tobago, Uruguay and Venezuela.


Benefits

The program covers the cost of most expenses associated with the following:

- J-1 visa support.

- Round-trip travel costs from the participants' home city to the United States.

- A monthly allowance to cover housing, meals, and other living expenses while you are in the United States.

- Insurance expenses against accidents and diseases.


Application steps

1- Create an account on the application site by clicking on Start New Application from here

2- The conditions page will appear in front of you. You have to check the box to agree to the terms and then click on Submit.

3- Fill in your data, which is the user name, e-mail, and password, then click on Create Account.

4- Click on the link to verify the authenticity of your email, which you will receive in a message to your email.

5- Re-enter the application link, sign in, and complete the required data.


Timeline

Deadline: November 2, 2022 by 11:59 p.m. EST 

ResultsFebruary 14, 2023, CSP applicants notified if selected as a finalist or alternate;Rejections sent

Arrival: August 2023, CSP fellows travel to the U.S. and participate in the Welcome Orientation

Departure: December 2023, CSP fellows participate in the End of Program Workshop and then return to their home countries

Note: January - June 2024 CSP fellows complete their community-based initiatives
