About Jagiellonian University

The Jagiellonian University is a public research university in Kraków, Poland. Founded in 1364 by King Casimir III the Great, It is the oldest university in Poland and the 13th oldest university in continuous operation in the world. The Jagiellonian University has excellent world-class research centres: Małopolska Center of Biotechnology, Solaris Synchrotron, The Jagiellonian Centre for Experimental Therapeutics, CITTRU, OMICRON, Copernicus Center for Interdisciplinary Studies, Life Science Park. The current position of the JU is also reflected in the growing number of patent applications and the growing number of patents granted to its academic staff members.

About the Summer School

Summer School II: Development and Challenges in the Complex World will be organised in a hybrid model, which allows participants to participate either on-site in Krakow or online. It includes five twelve-hour courses taught by leading figures in their respective fields.

Students are expected to choose at least 3 out of 5 six-hour courses. Each course is equivalent of 2 ECTS. All participants receive a certificate of attendance that confirms attending the winter school programme. The following courses are planned within the programme: 

- Sustainable Development and the International System Transformation.

- Economic Crises and Complexity.

- Complexity Challenges in Africa in the 21st Century.

- Complexity of Asian International Relations in the 21st Century.

- Forecasting in the Complex, Turbulent World.

Finance and Benefits

- There is no participation fee, attending  the summer school is free of charge for 50 participants.

- The financial support will be 4,250 PLN for 10 days summer school.

- The financial support will cover the costs of travel, and accommodation for the duration of the course.

The financial support is only available to Non-Polish residents and students with Non-Polish university affiliation.

Eligibility and Requirements

- You have to be a possess a student status ( Bachelor, Master, or Doctoral).

- Students from all countries are eligible to apply.

- Have a good level in English, All the courses are conducted in English.

- Cover letter which describing your motivation and how you will benefit from participating in the project.
