ESC Long term volunteering project "Green Skills XIV" in Sweden (Fully Funded)

The volunteering project "Green Skills XIV" in Sweden for 11 months which will be hosted and organised by RELEARN Suderbyn organisation. The project is fully funded by European Solidarity Corps of the European commission.



About the Project

Green Skills XIV Program is a long term volunteering project for eight volunteers at Suderbyn Ecovillage, which describes itself as a social laboratory, an experiment, and a playground. The volunteers have the chance to explore all facets of the holistic concept of sustainable living offered by Suderbyn for a full year while living and working as co-residents. A group of about 20–30 people from around the world live together in close quarters and share resources. Some of the main themes include eco-consciousness, community building, sustainable living, and active citizenship. The applicants may choose between two roles. Permaculture gardening and ecovillage infrastructure development are part of the work. The primary language of communication is English. 


Finance and Benefits

The project is funded by European Solidarity Corps and includes:

- Free accommodation, either a small single room or a shared room with one other person.

- The Food is ecological, vegan and is procured in bulk for the whole community, there is no meat and limited (private) dairy consumption. 

The main town Visby is 8km away. You can use bikes from our communal bikepool. There is a carpool on site and a bus stop close by.

Travel expenses from your home country to project venue will be reimbursed after participation in the project according to the distance between your  travelling place to the volunteering venue as follows:

  • for travel distance between 0 and 99 km: 23 EUR / person.
  • for travel distance between 100 and 499 km: 180 EUR / person, +30 EUR extra for Green travel.
  • for travel distance between 500 and 1999 km: 275 EUR / person, +45 EUR extra for Green travel.
  • for travel distance between 2000 and 2999 km: 360 EUR / person, +50 EUR extra for Green travel.
- Invitation letter for the Visa support.


Eligibility

- Aged between 18 and 30 years 

- You are from one of the following countries (Albania, Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Egypt, Georgia, Iceland, Jordan, Kosovo, Lebanon, Libya, Liechtenstein, Moldova, Montenegro, Morocco, North Macedonia, Norway, Palestine, Russia, Serbia, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine.) 

Any application from other countries will not be taken into account. 

- Having a personal motivation to engage in a sustainable lifestyle and community living.

- Able to start the volunteering in March 2024


Training during the project

The volunteers will get practical competences in organic/permaculture gardenin, vegan cooking, eco-construction, maintenance and renovation, micro-scale energy systems and renewable resources.

The volunteers will get competences in project management and administration, communication skills, non-violent interaction, conflict transformation, group facilitation, theoretical knowledge on closed-loop systems, permaculture design principles, sociocracy, planetary boundaries and ecological footprints, alternative economy and transition culture.

Arrival day: 1 March 2024
