About "A Cultural Odyssey"
"A Cultural Odyssey" is a 2 weeks volunteering project in Sumartin and Veliki Žitnik, Croatia. The project This project is a collaboration of 2 organisations. As a ESC volunteer you will be providing your services to the organisations Maritima Educare and Outward Bound Croatia. During this two week volunteering teams activity in where you'll have the chance to:
In Sumartin:
- Helping the elderly of Sumartin to harvest olives
In Veliki Žitnik:
- Assisting a carpenter to make pieces of office furnising
- Designing and cutting parts for a children small wooden boat program
In Both locations:
- Coooking and cleaning for the rest of the group
- Spend great 2 weeks with 30 volunteers from different countries, participating English, Exchanging experiences, culture ideas, and making international friends
Finance and Benefits
The project is funded by European Solidarity Corps program, accommodation, food (breakfast, lunch, dinner), and insurance are provided.
- During the time in Sumartin, the accommodation for the volunteers will be in multiple apartments, in a small village of Sumartin on the island of Brač, It's directly connected by ferry to city of Makarska. The apartments are equipped with shared rooms (3-4 people), multiple kitchens and bathrooms, close range from one another.
- During the time in Veliki Žitnik, the accommodation will be in OBC Educational Center in Veliki Žitnik, a small village in the rural, mountain region of Lika, Croatia. It's located 6km away from the nearest bigger city - Gospić. The OBC Educational Center is fully equipped with 2 dormitory-type bedrooms (male and female), bathrooms, a kitchen, a common room and a big yard, surrounded by forest. There is no WiFi.
- Each volunteer will receive 80 EUR as a pocket money for whole the time of the project, given in cash on arrival.
- Travel expenses from your home country to project venue will be reimbursed after participation in the project according to the distance between your travelling place to the volunteering venue as follows:
- for travel distance between 100 and 499 km: 180 EUR / person, +30 EUR extra for Green travel.
- for travel distance between 500 and 1999 km: 275 EUR / person, +45 EUR extra for Green travel.
- for travel distance between 2000 and 2999 km: 360 EUR / person, +50 EUR extra for Green travel.
