Open call for 35 volunteers for 3 week camp in a small village near Plovdiv, Bulgaria. About the Project
"B.R.I.G.H.T. Future 2.0" is a Team ESC volunteering project for 3 weeks in Mrachenik Village, Bulgaria for two times in 2024, the first round is going to be in June 2024 and the second round will be in September 2024. the mainly goals for the project will be as follows:-
- Engage youth for rural revitalisation;
- Connect youth and adults;
- Empower youth to take charge;
- Promote democracy and participation;
- Environmental and Mental health.
Project activities
The volunteers will be divided to several Action Teams. Each AT will have a specific area and task list to do. The main ATs will be as follows:
- River and Gully Cleaning AT
- Bike Paths cleaning AT
- Rosebud picking AT
- Wood work AT
- Bricks and Cement AT
- Media AT (photo, video, media)
Program and timetable
- Activities will be 5 days per week from Monday to Friday (7-8 hours /day)
- Two days off per week for all the participants
- Prepare yourself for working individually and in group in international community
Financial conditions and Benefits
All the project expenses are covered by the European Solidarity Corps programme
- There is no participation fee.
- Accommodation will be provided by the host organisation, mainly in tents . Be ready to share the tent with one or two participants, all the tents have foam mattress and pillows.
- Each participant has a pocket money of 5 EUR/ day (you will receive the pocket money by the end of each week in the Bulgarian leva)
- Food will be provided by the host organisation 3 meals per day (mostly vegetarian, fruits, and extra snack)
- Travel expenses from your home country to project venue will be reimbursed after participation in the project according to the distance between your travelling place to the volunteering venue as follows:
- for travel distance between 0 and 99 km: 23 EUR / person.
- for travel distance between 100 and 499 km: 180 EUR / person, +30 EUR extra for Green travel.
- for travel distance between 500 and 1999 km: 275 EUR / person, +45 EUR extra for Green travel.
- for travel distance between 2000 and 2999 km: 360 EUR / person, +50 EUR extra for Green travel.
- IMPORTANT: In case you are officially selected for this project, Do not book travel tickets before confirmation from the host organisation also, keep all your travel documents! Online boarding passes and tickets for reimbursements. No documents = no reimbursement!
Who can Apply?
- This program is for young people aged between 18 and 29 years old.
- Be a resident in EU Country or a Citizen for non-EU Countries who don't visa for Bulgaria for up to 90 days.
- Willing to do community work, and live in basic camp conditions.
- Able to do physical work and learn hands-on skills.
- Able to communicate in English.
- You want to develop soft skills, such as willingness, communication, leadership, self reflection, teamwork, accountability.
- You are looking for the opportunity to test, try and discover something new.
What to Bring?
- Passport/ ID and travel documents
- Sleeping bag (if you have or you need it)
- Towels and personal hygiene items.
- Hiking shoes and raincoat.
- outdoor clothes and hat
- Reusable water bottle.
- Games, suncream, medicine (may you need)

General conditions
- You have to attend all the project period from the beginning to the end.
- keep all your original tickets and boarding passes for reimbursements.
- Be ready to live in rural area with basic conditions for 3 weeks.
- you are expected to organise a follow-up activity in your home country after finishing the project.
- Be aware of limited comforts (showers, internet, campsite environment, etc.)
