EUI Traineeships | Paid Internships in Florence, Italy (Fully Funded)

An excellent opportunity for university students and recent graduates to gain professional experience at the European University Institute, leading institute in Europe dedicated to social sciences and humanities in Florence, Italy. EUI offers a number of traineeship opportunities for motivated talents from various academic and professional backgrounds.

EUI Traineeships

A traineeship in the EU is an excellent opportunity to work in an area of your choice, build your career in a global and multicultural research organisation, and take advantage of the cultural, social, and recreational offerings of Florence, Italy, one of the liveliest towns on earth.

The EUI offers two types of traineeship:

• A paid traineeship of one year, or;
• An unpaid traineeship of a maximum length of 3 months, when the traineeship is compulsory in the framework of the university studies.

All eligible candidates are welcome to apply for the traineeship; there will be no discrimination based on any of the following: age, sexual orientation, gender, race, colour, ethnicity, social background, religion, or membership in a national minority. 

With the guidance of an experienced traineeship supervisor in a designated unit and team, you will:

- Gain a general overview of the goals of the EUI, a unique international research organisation for doctorate and post-doctorate studies and research;

- Get first-hand experience of the activities of the EUI and its units;

- Apply knowledge, obtained during your studies or professional profession;

- Develop new professional and personal skills through the daily work of the EUI’s units;

- Participate in exciting projects and activities within a varied, multicultural, multilingual, and multinational environment.

Eligibility | Who can apply for EUI traineeships

- Be a national of the Member States of the European Union or one of the candidate countries:  Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Türkiye. Ukrainian nationals are also eligible to apply.

- Have a good knowledge of English  language ( B2  level or above), and a satisfying knowledge of another language of the European Union to the extent necessary to the performance of the duties.

- To be eligible for a paid traineeship, candidates should:

• Have completed the first cycle of university studies (Bachelor's) and obtained a full degree no longer than three years prior to the deadline for applications. 

• The three years rule is not applicable to trainees enrolled in further university studies at the moment of their application for the traineeship at the EUI.

- To be eligible for an unpaid traineeship, candidates should

• Be enrolled in a recognised university degree programme by the time of the application.

Financial conditions

- Each trainee for the paid traineeships will receive a monthly grant of 1,380 EUR, and the maximum period of this traineeship is 12 months and the minimum duration is 3 months.

- Trainees of unpaid traineeship for a period of maximum 3 months may receive a grant from their home university/organisation as defined by the inter-institutional agreement.

- Each trainee from outside Florence is entitled to reimbursement of travel expenses expenses at the beginning and the end of the traineeship.

- Health insurance is required for both types of traineeships and is available through the Institute upon request. By default, Trainees are covered against the risk of accident by the collective policy that the Institute has taken out with Cigna Life Insurance Company NV/Cigna International Health Services BVBA .

Timeline

Application deadline: Ongoing, no specific deadline

Start of the traineeship: Traineeships should start on the 1st day of February, April, June, September, and November.

Note: Only candidates who are invited for an interview will receive information on the selection status from the EUI. If you didn't get an answer within the 3 months after having applying, you can assume your application has not been successful and you can apply for the next occasions.
