Open cal for volunteers from Europe to join the volunteering project "Green Fingers" in Zagreb and outside of Zagreb, Croatia. This volunteering project is organised by OAZA organisation for 6 weeks and funded by the European Union through the European Solidarity Corps programme.

About "Green Fingers"

Green fingers is an ESC Volunteering project that will bring together 12 participants from Europe to engage them in maintaining urban school gardens in few primary schools in Zagreb and outside of Zagreb. Participants will organise garden festivals local communities and cleaning up activities in the needed areas and restoring them to their natural habitat. This volunteering opportunity includes physical and training activities, for the cleaning activities it will be as follows:

Gardening in school gardens, be ready to get dirty or wet;

Promo activity - a public awareness event in the open-air;

- Volunteering actions - cleaning local areas and restoring them to their natural state, and creating space for intercultural exchange as volunteers present their countries and cultures through workshops.

Participants will receive on-arrival training which includes introduction to Croatian language (basic expressions and vocabulary). Before starting the volunteering work there is training on tools techniques

Eligibility | Who can apply

- young people aged between 18-30 (you age should be over 18 years by the first day of the project and less than 31 years)

- you are a citizen or legal resident for one of the following countries (Albania, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Germany, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Georgia, Hungary, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Kosovo, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Latvia, Luxembourg, Malta, Moldova, the Netherlands, North Macedonia, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Sweden, Slovenia, Slovakia, Spain).

- you are interested in environment protection, creative expression, sustainability, vegetarianism, healthy diet and lifestyles.

- willing to contribute to the local community by volunteering highly motivated and proactive.

- able to communicate in English at least at a basic level.

- eager to work with children and local community and organising workshops in a non-formal way

not afraid of physical work outside, insects, getting dirty, etc.

- ready to take part in a vegetarian/vegan challenge during the project.


Financial conditions & Benefits

- Participants will be accommodated in shared rooms in a hostel with up to 4-6 volunteers with access to shared bathrooms and kitchen.

- Each participants will receive 6 EUR/ day as a pocket money.

- Food allowance to cover the cost of breakfasts, dinners on working days and all meals on free days, the host organisation will provide a vegan lunch on working days.

European Health Insurance Card for (EU residents) or HENNER insurance for (non-EU residents).

- Public transportation card 

- Travel expenses from your home country to project venue will be reimbursed after participation in the project according to the distance between your  travelling place to the volunteering venue as follows:
  • for travel distance between 100 and 499 km: 180 EUR / person, +30 EUR extra for Green travel.
  • for travel distance between 500 and 1999 km: 275 EUR / person, +45 EUR extra for Green travel.
  • for travel distance between 2000 and 2999 km: 360 EUR / person, +50 EUR extra for Green travel.

  • IMPORTANT: keep all your travel documents! Online boarding passes and tickets for reimbursements. No documents = No reimbursement!
  • IMPORTANT: Please send your travel proposition per e-mail to the organisers and wait for their confirmation before purchasing your tickets!
- Participants are entitled to receive Youthpass certificate after finishing their project.
