Open call for 15 volunteers from European Countries to join the first volunteering teams project in Jönköpings kommun, Sweden. The project aims to encourage locals to cast their vote in the European Parliament elections. This project is for 3 weeks funded by the European Union through the European Solidarity Corps Programme.

About the Project

The theme for Europe Week 2024 is "JKPG Voices for EU Choices," marking the first time the volunteering teams project will be hosted in Jönköping municipality. Local volunteers and current ESC volunteers will collaborate with 15 European youth to facilitate various activities throughout Jönköping, aiming to motivate residents to participate in the European Parliament elections.

Through participating in this ESC Volunteering teams project, volunteers will:

- Improve their event coordination and management skills by taking different responsibilities such as marketing, social media management, outreach efforts, resource allocation, logistics, and communications during Europe Week 2024.

- Develop a stronger sense of civic responsibility by actively participating in educating and advocating for the significance of EU elections and related subjects.

- Refine their proficiency in intercultural communication, particularly within a European framework, by working alongside a multicultural team.

The activities planned for Europe Week 2024 will be mostly take place in Jönköping, Sweden, particularly at the youth centres under the auspices of the Culture and Leisure Time Department. While the exact timetable is still pending confirmation, participants can anticipate engaging in activities such as intercultural nights, promotional campaigns, educational workshops, outreach initiatives, school presentations, informational sessions, game nights, dance events, and more.


Eligibility | Who can apply ?

Young people between 18 and 30 years who fits with the following requirements

- Being a resident in one of the following countries (Albania, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Germany, Denmark, Estonia, Greece, Spain, Finland, France, Georgia, Croatia, Hungary, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Latvia, Moldova (Republic of), Montenegro, North Macedonia, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Ukraine, Kosovo * UN resolution, Aruba, Curaçao, French Guiana, Greenland, Guadeloupe, Saint Martin (french part), Martinique, Réunion, Sint Maarten (dutch part), Sweden);

Open-minded and tolerant towards differences in backgrounds and abilities;

Willing to take initiative to plan, organise, implement, and/or evaluate local activities;

- Able to communicate and work in English (basic English);

- Ready to work individually and in internationAl teams as well;

Willing to engage in learning opportunities offered during volunteering;

- Available to join for the whole duration of the activity;

- Registered  and have an account on the European Youth Portal.


Expenses & Benefits

- The host organisation will provide the accommodation for the participants, The volunteers will share the room with a person or multiple people.;

During the activity days in Brittebo, the volunteers will be provided with food. During the activity days in Jönköping the volunteers are responsible for their own food arrangements – there is a kitchenette and food allowance for that;

- Volunteers will receive a pocket money of 6 EUR per day;

A public transport card (unlimited rides in Jönköping-Huskvarna zone);

Complementary health insurance from HENNER (in addition to a European Health Insurance Card);

- Youthpass certificate for participation

Travel expenses to and from Sweden will be reimbursed after participation in the project according to the distance between your  travelling place to the volunteering venue as follows:
  • for travel distance between 10 and 99 km: 23 EUR / person, no Green travel available.
  • for travel distance between 100 and 499 km: 180 EUR / person, +30 EUR extra for Green travel.
  • for travel distance between 500 and 1999 km: 275 EUR / person, +45 EUR extra for Green travel.
  • for travel distance between 2000 and 2999 km: 360 EUR / person, +50 EUR extra for Green travel.
  • for travel distance between 3000 and 3999 km: 530 EUR / person, +80 EUR extra for Green travel

Interviews: 18-21 March 2024

Selection results: 22 March 2024

Confirmation of participation: 23-26 March 2024

Arranging the travel: 27 March - 3 April 2024

Arrival day: 28 April 2024 must be before 16.00 

Departure day: 14 May
