About EFSA Traineeships
Every year, EFSA offers a unique professional experience for over 100 trainees to join a team of professionals from all over the world working together in an international environment on Science, Safe Food and Sustainability projects at the heart of European Food Safety activities. EFSA Traineeship is an ideal opportunity for young professional who are looking for an enriching experience in a truly international working environment. EFSA is looking forward to welcoming motivated young talents from different academic and professional backgrounds (scientists, communication and legal professionals, IT experts, etc.).
During the traineeship, You'll have a dedicated advisor supporting and mentoring you during your traineeship. Additionally, there's an active Trainee Community where you can share experiences with fellow trainees and form lasting social connections. Within your designated unit, you'll have opportunities to:
Eligibility
- The Traineeship call is open for EU Citizens. A limited number of places will be offered for non-EU nationalities. For non-EU selected trainees, they will have to obtain a relevant VISA before the start of their traineeship at EFSA.
- Have already obtained a university degree of at least 3 years by the closing date of application (corresponding to complete Bachelor's degree).
- Have a good knowledge of English (minimum B2 level according to CEER)
- Have never been an EFSA trainee or employed by EFSA in any capacity, receiving any sort of remuneration.
- Meet the character requirements needed for the duties involved (e.g. a sworn affidavit to the effect that you have no criminal record).
Finance and Benefits
- A monthly maintenance grant of €1,463.
- EFSA provides a travel allowance to compensate for the expenses incurred to travel from the place of residence to EFSA and vice versa at the beginning and at the end of the traineeship. the travel allowance will be depending on the distance as following:
- Contribution for one way trip for travel distance between 0 and 200 km: 0 EUR / person
- Contribution for one way trip for travel distance between 201 and 500 km: 100 EUR / person
- Contribution for one way trip for travel distance between 501 and 1000 km: 150 EUR / person
- Contribution for one way trip for travel distance between 1001 and 2000 km: 200 EUR / person
- Contribution for one way trip for travel distance between 2001 and 3000 km: 250 EUR / person
- Contribution for one way trip for travel distance between 2001 and 3000 km: 250 EUR / person
- Contribution for one way trip for travel distance over 3001 km: 500 EUR / person
- An opportunity to get a taste of what an EU career is all about for an extended period (12 months) and experience that can act as a springboard for a number of career paths;

- The possibility to telework up to 60% per week from the distance reachable to Parma within approximately 3 hours. Such conditions will allow you to enjoy working not only from home, but also from the Dolomite Mountains or the Ligurian Sea coast, etc.

Traineeships beginning: The traineeships starts from October to December 2024, according to availability and business needs of EFSA.
