Alpbach, which has been declared as the “most beautiful village of Austria”, is located in the eponymous valley at the foot of Mt. Gratlspitz. The unique village is world-renowned for scientific and political exchange. Great thinkers and clever minds are drawn to the Congress Centrum in Alpbach for the annual European Forum Alpbach.
About EFA 2024
The European Forum Alpbach 2024 is an excellent for students, young professionals, and change makers from all around the world to attend a scientific, skill-oriented, and creative workshops, engage in an advanced conference agenda, and partake in various social and cultural events in the village of Alpbach in Austria.
EFA itself and Forum Alpbach Network (FAN) award around 350 scholarships every year for the first-time participants. These two weeks in the summer offer a distinctive experience for this select group, featuring stimulating content and inspiring interactions with leaders and fellow passionate Europeans.
The European Forum Alpbach scholarship programme generates idea generation and motivates action among its participants.
Finance and Benefits
- There is no application fee to apply.
- Scholarships for the EFA 2024 cover participation fee and accommodation for the entire duration.
- the most accommodations have shared rooms (two to six people in a room).
- EFA Scholarship holders will receive a daily allowance of 25 EUR/day.
- Travel costs to and from Alpbach have to be covered by you, as well as health care and travel insurance.
- Some Clubs within the forum Alpbach Network offer a reimbursement of travel costs and/ or daily allowances to their scholarships holders.
Eligibility | Who can apply?
European Forum Alpbach 2024 scholarship is for all young professionals, youth leaders, and change-makers who want to have an impact on their communities and regions and met the following requirements:
- Age limit between 18 and 30 years old, and up to 35 for the citizens of the Global south.
- Applicants can be from all the countries and and academic backgrounds.
-You haven’t received a scholarship from the European Forum Alpbach yet and therefore you considered as a first-time scholarship holder. For those who attend the European Forum Alpbach virtually in 2020 or 2021, they still can join.
- Fluent English language skills are required, since it is the main language of the forum. You should provide a certificate shows your proficiency in English with minimum level B2, it can be one of the followings:
- a language certificate (e.g., IELTS, TOEFL, CPE, CAE, or MUET)
- proof that you studied or are studying in an English- speaking country.
- proof that your academic degree is taught entirely in English.
- You are a native speaker. You are considered a native speaker if you are from on of the following countries (Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Canada, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Ireland, Jamaica, New Zealand, South Africa, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, United Kingdom, United States of America)
- A confirmation by your school, employer, or a university professor, explicitly stating that you have reached B2 or an equivalent to B2
- Applicants must be available to attend the European Forum Alpbach event for a minimum of 11 days, including the seminar days and the Europe in the World Days.
- Alpbach forum 24 especially invites the participation of female talents in Science, Engineering, Technology, Mathematics, as well as talents in urban development, engineering, art, culture, entrepreneurship, finance, and people from the Global south.
Required Documents
- CV and Motivational statement ( for your motivation statement you have to answer for these questions What motivates you to take part in EFA24? Explain which track(s) you are most interested in and how you will contribute, in terms of perspectives, ideas and knowledge, to its discussions).
- Proof of your English B2 level as shown above in Eligibility section.
- Latest diploma or transcript of records or proof of employment. If your transcript or certificate is in a language other than German or English, you need to submit a translation. This translation does not need to be certified.
Timeline
Deadline: Applications close 28 March 2024 (2:00 pm)
Results: Announcement of results will be by mid-June 2024 at the latest.
Arrival: Arrival day is 17 August 2024
Departure: Departure day is 30 August 2024
