HEROES’ TEAM | ESC Volunteering project in Matera, Italy (Fully Funded)

Open call for volunteers from EU countries to join two-week volunteering project "HEROES' Team" in the village of Matera, Italy. This is project is a good opportunity to discover the rural living in Italy and know new people from different countries. The project is hosted by BASILICATA LINK and funded by the European Solidarity Corps programme of the European Union.

About the volunteering

Asylum HEROES' Team invites passionate young people from EU countries to embark on a transformative journey of solidarity. During the project of 2 weeks, volunteers will converge to lend their time and talents to a set of artistic endeavors, spanning theatre, dance, music, literature, and performance arts. Drawing inspiration from the narrative of the HERO's journey and the essence of rural living, volunteers will engage in projects imbued with profound significance and purpose. 

If you're prepared to embark on a journey of self-discovery, service, and cultural exchange, we invite you to join us. The project will conclude with a final showcase, during which participants will present their experiences and work in an artistic format.


Training during the activity

Participants will receive extensive training in crafting artistic presentations rooted in the Hero’s journey within rural settings. They will explore immersive theatre and interactive performance techniques, learning to infuse their work with authenticity and engagement. Through individual, small group, and collective exercises, participants will refine their skills, exploring diverse methods to express their ideas with depth and impact. 

Eligibility| Who can apply?

- Young people aged between 18 -30 years old and legally residents in one of the following countries (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Germany, Denmark, Estonia, Greece, Spain, Finland, France, Croatia, Hungary, Ireland, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Latvia, Italy, North Macedonia, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Sweden, Slovenia, Slovakia)

- Having a good level of motivation and eager to learn and grow in the program. 

- Flexible person able to live closely with others and collaborate with different people.

- An interest in the arts and rural life is a must.

- Having a basic English skills which will be needed for you to communicate with the team.

- Ready to stay the whole duration of the project.

- Able to work individually and in teams with other volunteers from different backgrounds.


Expenses and Benefits

This project is supported and funded by the European Solidarity corps programme and includes the following

- Participants will be accommodated in a room with bunk beds (16 people) and shared toilets.

- Participants have to prepare their meals in groups, the host organisation will provide the support for logistical matters such as shopping and local transportation.

- Participants are entitled to receive a pocket money of 5 euro/day/ participant.

- Your travel costs to and from Italy will be reimbursed according to the distance between your home and the project venue according to the following limits:

  • for travel distance between 100 and 499 km: 180 EUR / person, +30 EUR extra for Green travel.
  • for travel distance between 500 and 1999 km: 275 EUR / person, +45 EUR extra for Green travel.
  • for travel distance between 2000 and 2999 km: 360 EUR / person, +50 EUR extra for Green travel.

  • IMPORTANT: keep all your travel documents! Online boarding passes and tickets for reimbursements. No documents = No reimbursement!
  • IMPORTANT: Please send your travel proposition per e-mail to the organisers and wait for their confirmation before purchasing your tickets!
- Participants will receive a YouthPass certificate after the project where you are expected to self-assess your own learning and you can add it to your CV.


What to bring?

- ID or Passport or any other document you use for travel.

- Medicine, if you have any specific illness or medical condition.

- Your flight tickets, bus tickets, train tickets, or any proof you have that you came to France.

Departure day: 18th of June 2024

Note: Application can be closed earlier than the scheduled time due to the number of the applications, so don't wait until the last moment and apply as soon as possible.
