About the project

"Associazione InformaGiovani" from Italy invites volunteers from across Europe to join its teams volunteering project "Living in nature" in the town of Limina, Sicily.  Tis project focuses on agriculture and rural empowerment. The activities during the project will be various aspects of land management, agriculture, and permaculture such as tending to vegetable gardens, harvesting and processing fruits and vegetables, nurturing small trees and plants, engaging in small-scale construction, crafting, and artistic projects using wood and recycled materials. Volunteers will contribute to the daily management of the land and specific activities may arise from each volunteer's particular skills/abilities Work will be organized into small groups, and assignments will be rotated accordingly.


Eligibility | Who can apply?

- Young people aged between 18-30 years old from the following countries (Albania, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Germany, Denmark, Estonia, Greece, Spain, Finland, France, Croatia, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Lithuania, Latvia, North Macedonia, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Ukraine)

- This is a Teams Volunteering project, so if you already participated in long/short term EVS/ESC volunteering project before you still can join this project. 

- Available to stay the whole duration of the project.

- Strongly motivated to live in a small town and being involved in an experience of collective life.

- Interested in agriculture and permaculture, and would like to enjoy the countryside and hiking.

- Great spirit of adaptation is fundamental.

- Able to communicate and work in English spoken and written.


Expenses and Benefits

- Volunteers will be accommodated in four glamping tents with mattresses inside. 

- Volunteers will have access to a-composting toilet and outdoor solar shower.

Water is provided from a well, and it's possible to fill tanks for personal use. Drinking water comes from public wells provided by the town of Antillo.

- Volunteers can cook in the indoor space inside the warehouse and it is fully equipped, only vegetarian food will be provided by the host organisation.

- Electricity is only available close to the warehouse. There is a canopy to take shelter from the rain.

Your travel costs to and from Italy will be reimbursed after the project according to the distance between your home and the project venue as the following limits:

  • for travel distance between 10 and 99 km: 23 EUR / person
  • for travel distance between 100 and 499 km: 180 EUR / person
  • for travel distance between 500 and 1999 km: 275 EUR / person
  • for travel distance between 2000 and 2999 km: 360 EUR / person
  • for travel distance between 3000 and 3999 km: 530 EUR / person

  • IMPORTANT: keep all your travel documents! Online boarding passes and tickets for reimbursements. No documents = No reimbursement!
  • IMPORTANT: Please send your travel proposition per e-mail to the organisers and wait for their confirmation before purchasing your tickets!
- Participants will receive a YouthPass certificate after the project where you are expected to self-assess your own learning and you can add it to your CV.


What to bring?

- ID or Passport or any other document you use for travel.

- Towels, flip flops, hygiene products, and a hairdryer, if you need one.

- Medicine, if you have any specific illness or medical condition.

- Your flight tickets, bus tickets, train tickets, or any proof you have that you came to Italy.

Departure day: 17th of September 2024

Note: Application can be closed earlier than the scheduled time due to the number of the applications, so don't wait until the last moment and apply as soon as possible.
