Mapping Rural Heritage | ESC Volunteering project in Italy (Fully Funded)

About the project

Associazione InformaGiovani invites volunteers from across Europe to join its teams volunteering project "Mapping Rural Heritage" in the town of Milena, Sicily. Volunteers will explore the "Robbe" region on foot, capturing photos along the way with the aim of creating a unique map depicting the area. The "Robbe" refer to small rural settlements in the countryside of Milena (CL), from which the current village has evolved. During the late nineteenth century, the land was leased, and due to the considerable distance from other towns and the challenges of communication, peasants constructed humble rural dwellings in the countryside, either along paths or close to water sources. These dwellings were clustered into "Robbe" to prevent isolation and ensure access to drinking water.

Other activities related to the urban regeneration of the town of Milena will be carried out by volunteers.
