An exciting opportunity for around 200 talented and driven undergraduate and graduate students from all over the world to apply for the Global Research Immersion Program for Young Scientists (Grips), a funded summer research program hosted by four prestigious universities in China. From June to August 2025, students will have the chance to actively engage in a solid research program.

About GRIPS Summer Research Program 

The Global Research Immersion Program for Young Scientists (GRIPS) is a fully funded summer research opportunity designed for exceptionally talented undergraduate and graduate students worldwide. Bringing together 200 top-tier participants, GRIPS offers an immersive experience at four of China’s most prestigious universities: Zhejiang University, University of Science and Technology of China, Fudan University, and Nanjing University. Over the course of June to August, students will engage in cutting-edge research within state-of-the-art laboratories while being mentored by leading academics.

Beyond research, GRIPS provides a holistic learning experience with industry visits, cultural immersion activities, scenic excursions in the Yangtze River Delta, and insightful lectures from distinguished scholars. Participants will not only gain valuable research skills but also explore China’s rich heritage, build a global network, and be part of a transformative academic journey. The Research program includes different projects in the following areas;

Eligibility | Who can apply?

- Undergraduate and graduate students from all over the world are eligible to apply

- Applicants must be actively enrolled as full-time undergraduate or graduate students at their home university.

- Undergraduate applicants should have completed a minimum of two years of study, preferably being in their junior or senior year within a relevant field.

- Candidates are expected to have a strong academic record, maintaining a CGPA of ‘B’ or higher.

For successful application, applicants need to submit the following materials: 

  • Online application form
  • Official transcript of records from your home university
  • Resume 
  • Statement of purpose (Motivation letter)
  • One recommendation letter (from a professor)
  • 3 min self-introduction video
  • Additional supporting documents, such as certificates or personal achievements

Expenses and Benefits

GRIPS aims to make the program accessible by covering major costs so students can fully enjoy the experience. However, participants should budget for personal expenses like social activities or extra travel.

What’s Covered BY GRIPS are?

- No tuition or registration fees – Completely waived

- Scholarships available – May include travel support and free accommodation for top applicants

- Certificate of Participation & Performance Evaluation – Awarded at the end of the program.

-Future Benefits – Students who later apply for degree programs may have a better chance of receiving sponsorship if they’ve earned the GRIPS certificate.

How to apply?

to apply for GRIPS Summer Research Program 2025 in China, you need to follow these 4 stages

STAGE 1 -Before applying to GRIPS, carefully review the guidelines and understand the process. Browse available research projects, identify potential Principal Investigators (PIs), and reach out to them for more details. Prepare all required documents in advance. When filling out the application, you can select up to two PIs from the four host universities, but you will be admitted to only one project.

STAGE 2 -Click the “Apply Now” button, and proceed to fill in the online application form and submit required application materials.

STAGE 3 -Submit your application online  by March 9, 2025.

STAGE 4 -Wait for the admissions team to contact you via email. It is important to provide a valid and correct email address in the application form and monitor your inbox regularly.
