EUIPO Traineeships 2025 | Paid Traineeships in Spain, Belgium and Luxembourg

An excellent opportunity for young graduates and young professional from both EU Member states and non-EU Member states to apply for the European Union Intellectual property Office (EUIPO) paid traineeships 2025 for a period of 12 months and two weeks starting between 1 September and 15 October each year. Trainees will receive a monthly grant and travel allowance to support their expenses during the traineeship.


About the traineeship

The European Union Intellectual property Office (EUIPO) is committed to developing future talent and offers valuable learning opportunities for young people at the start of their careers. EUIPO offers 4 types of traineeships;

- Pan-European Seal Professional Traineeship Programme: This programme allows young graduates to put into practice the knowledge acquired during their studies, with an emphasis on their specific areas of competence. It also helps them to understand the objectives and procedures relating to European Union trade marks and designs at EU level.

- Traineeships for young professionals: This traineeship programme is intended to help young professionals put into practice the knowledge acquired during their studies and first professional experiences, with an emphasis on their specific areas of competence.

- Traineeships for junior IP employees: These grant-assisted traineeships for junior staff from national and international intellectual property (IP) offices offer technical training in specific areas of IP administration, in particular trade marks and designs. 

- Unpaid traineeships: This programme is intended for university graduates who, in the course of their studies or otherwise, have already gained some initial experience in the Office’s areas of work.

Work hours align with those of full-time EUIPO staff. Core working hours are from 9:30 to 12:30h and 15:00 to 16:00h; private commitments are recommended outside these hours. Trainees are not allowed to work overtime. A normal working week is 40 hours, a full working day counts for 8 hours and a half day 4 hours.


Eligibility | Who can apply?

- The trainees shall be a national of one of the European Union Member States. A limited number of nationals of EU candidate countries and third countries amounting to approx. 10 % of the positions, may be accepted;

Candidates must have completed successfully the first cycle of a higher education course (undergraduate studies) certified by an official document from the university before the traineeship starts;

Applicants must have a good knowledge of one language of the EUIPO: English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish (minimum level B1)


Selection Criteria

in addition to the eligibility criteria mentioned above, candidates will be evaluated based on:

- CV and Motivation letter,

- degree(s) / diploma(s)

- language skills,

- any previous experience, professional or such as extra-academic roles, involvements of special responsibility nature or interventions within the scope of professional.

- certificate of having completed at least one of the online free courses of the EUIPO Academy Learning portal.


Expenses and Benefits

- Trainees are entitled to receive a monthly grant of 1300 EUR in Alicante or 1500 EUR in Brussels or Luxembourg

The EUIPO does not facilitate accommodation for trainees. Each trainee must find his/her own accommodation; however, the Office provides guidance for easier accommodation search.

- Trainees are entitled to 2 days of annual leave per month. for leave not due for a complete month.

- During the traineeship, trainees have free access to the sport and leisure facilities of the office. 

Trainees are entitled to language courses during the traineeship and the Office provides a maximum of 150 hours of language training in one language during their traineeship.

A contribution to the travel expenses from the place of the University of the last completed studies to the place of traineeship and back:

- 200 km or less → No travel expense reimbursement.  

- 201 - 500 km → You receive €100.  

- 501 - 1000 km → You receive €200.  

-1001 - 2000 km → You receive €300.  

- Over 2001 km → You receive €400.

Curriculum vitae: Europass CV template

- Letter of motivation: A letter of motivation in any of the Office's 5 working languages

- University diploma: A university diploma, or for applicants who’ve not yet received their official degree certificate, a statement from their university confirming their degree result

- EUIPO online course certificate: It is highly recommended to attach a certificate of completion of the EUIPO’s online course ‘EUTM in a Nutshell’ or ‘registered EU design.
