"Broaden Our Horizons" is a dynamic ESC Team volunteering project coming to life in Poznań from July 2 to 31, 2025. It brings together 22 passionate volunteers from all over the ESC program countries to create fun, meaningful moments in public spaces across Poznan in Poland. This volunteering project is organised by CIM HORYZONTY from Poznan and funded by the European Solidarity Corps Programme of the EU.
About CIM HORYZONTY
CIM HORYZONTY is an independent Poznań non-governmental organization in Poznan operating at the local, regional, national, and international levels. Its goals are to initiate, run, and support educational, social, and cultural activities for and by the local community and to build intercultural dialogue between representatives of different cultures.
The organisation wants to influence the creation of a world without hatred, full of intentional understanding, for which we care about together, starting from our own backyard, but also going far beyond the horizon.
About the volunteering
Broaden Our Horizons is a heartwarming summer project happening in Poznań from July 2 to 31, 2025. It brings together 22 amazing volunteers from different countries and cultures to fill public spaces with creativity, connection, and joy.
Through fun and meaningful activities for children, adults, and seniors — including Ukrainian refugees- the project creates a space where people can learn from each other, share their cultures, and build real friendships. Kids will enjoy summer camps and playful cultural animations, all while picking up new language skills and discovering the beauty of diversity.
But it doesn’t stop there. Together, the volunteers will also create a theatre and musical performance to celebrate their shared journey and spread the spirit of volunteering and unity beyond PoznaÅ„.
Volunteer Responsibilities As a volunteer, you will be at the forefront of creating meaningful experiences for children and communities in PoznaÅ„. Your main tasks will include: - Facilitating summer day camps and public events for children or the elderly, engaging them in interactive cultural activities. - Providing support and guidance to children from diverse backgrounds, including refugees from Ukraine and migrants, to ensure a welcoming and inclusive environment. - Preparing a presentation about the volunteer’s country and culture - Creating a theatre or musical performance for the project finale Through your dedication and enthusiasm, you will contribute to building a more inclusive and connected community, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of children and fostering a spirit of unity and cooperation among all participants.
Eligibility | Who can apply?
- Young people aged between 18 and 30 from all ESC Programme countries, including Finland (check the list on the ESC Portal here)
- Be an enthusiastic, active, interested in street/intercultural activities, like to work with kids, art, and have fun with nonformal education.
- open-minded for cultural and social differences, inclusion, diversity, and cross-cultural collaboration not only in activities/work but in everyday life behaviour.
Expenses and Benefits
- The volunteers will stay at Jurand, the student house of the University of Life Sciences, in the central part of Poznań, so all workplaces can be reached easily.
- Each three participants will stay in one big room with wifi, fridges, and bed sheets. The dormitory includes a common kitchen and bathroom.
- Each participant will receive a pocket and food money to cover personal expenses.
- CIM Horizon will provide a local transportation card for each volunteer, such that there is around half an hour to the city centre.
- Participants from EU countries should get the European Health Insurance Card; for non-EU residents, they will receive HENNER insurance for the whole period of the project.
- Participants who will need a Type-D Visa for Poland will get the invitation letter and the other necessary documents from the host organisation after the selection process.
- Your international travel expenses will be reimbursed according to the distance between your home and Poland, according to the following limits:
- from 10 – 99 km - 56 EUR (Green Travel)/ 28 EUR (Non-Green Travel)
- from 100 – 499 km - 285 EUR (Green Travel)/ 211 EUR (Non-Green Travel)
- from 500 – 1999 km - 417 EUR (Green Travel)/ 309 EUR (Non-Green Travel)
- from 2000 – 2999 km - 395 EUR (Green Travel)/ 535 EUR (Non-Green Travel)

- IMPORTANT: Please send your travel proposition by e-mail to the organisers and wait for their confirmation before purchasing your tickets!
- Participants are entitled to receive a YouthPass certificate after the project, where you are expected to self-assess your own learning, and you can add it to your CV.
