An exciting summer volunteering project for 20 young people from EU countries and ESC programme countries to join "Watermelon Time Camp" in its fourth edition in Valašské Klobouky, Brno, Czech Republic, from 29 June to 12 July 2025. This summer, the Volunteer camp is organised by "Hnuti Brontosaurus" and funded by the European Solidarity Corps Program of the European Union.
About Watermelon Time Camp 2025
An exciting opportunity for 20 young people (10 from Czechia and 10 from other Countries) to join the 4th edition of the watermelon Time Camp, a unique summer volunteering experience combining eco-friendly work, cultural immersion, and international friendships.
The camp program is aimed at suppressing prejudices and stereotypes, and we will focus on celebrating culture and traditional crafts. Each participant will be involved in creating the program, we will cook together and participants will be responsible for conducting their own workshops. During this hands-on experience, you’ll:
- Join the 45th Annual Mowing Festival.
- Practice traditional scything and hay stacking.
- Remove invasive plants to protect native species.
- Take part in workshops and contribute your own skills.
- Cook together, live simply, and celebrate culture.
Eligibility| Who can apply?
- Highly motivated young people aged 18 to 30 coming from one of the EU Member states or ESC Programme countries.
- Participants should be ready to join volunteering activities and willing to stay for the entire duration of the activity.
- Participants who are Willing to contribute to the program with their activity or workshop.
- You are not afraid of challenges, willing to step out of your comfort zone, open-minded, and seeking to meet new people from different countries.
- Participants are expected to have a good level of English.
- There is no experience or educational level requirement to apply for this volunteering project.
Expenses and Benefits
- Participants will stay at the Kosénka Eco-centre, a rustic and welcoming space in the countryside in a shared gender-mixed sleeping area (bring your sleeping bag).
- The accommodation venue includes a Kitchen, one shower, two toilets, and a cozy cabin with a stove.
- All meals during the camp period will be provided by the host organisation.
- Participants who will stay the whole duration of the project are entitled to receive a pocket money.
- Participants from EU countries should get the European Health Insurance Card; for non-EU citizens, they will receive HENNER insurance for the whole period of the project.
- Your international travel expenses will be reimbursed according to the distance between your home and Brno, Czech Republic, according to the following limits:
- from 10 – 99 km - 56 EUR (Green Travel)
- from 100 – 499 km - 285 EUR (Green Travel)
- from 500 – 1999 km - 417 EUR (Green Travel)
- from 2000 – 2999 km - 395 EUR (Green Travel)

- Green travel is mandatory; you must travel sustainably (bike, train, bus, etc)
- Keep all your travel documents and tickets for reimbursements. No documents = No reimbursement!
- Please send your travel proposition by email to the organisers and wait for their confirmation before purchasing your tickets!
- Participants are entitled to receive a YouthPass certificate after the project, where you are expected to self-assess your own learning, and you can add it to your CV.
