Euromed Young Researchers Forum 2025 in Mollina, Spain (Fully Funded)

An open call for young researchers from the Euro-Mediterranean region interested in exploring the challenges and opportunities of digital transformation in the region to apply for the "VIII Euromed Young Researchers Forum", which takes place in Mollina, Spain, from 15 to 17 September 2025. This year´s edition of the Forum will be about: “Shaping the digital future of the Euro-Mediterranean region”. This forum is organised by the European Institute of the Mediterranean with financial support from the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID). 


About Euromed Young Researchers Forum 2025

The Euromed Young Researchers Forum is part of the Euromed Young Researchers Lab, an initiative coordinated by the European Institute of the Mediterranean. in this year's Forum, The Euromed Young Researchers Lab aims to enhance the research capacities of young professionals across the Mediterranean, give visibility and recognition to their work, strengthen exchanges, and stimulate research on issues of common interest. 

During this year's Forum, 30 Participants from across the Mediterranean and its neighbouring regions will meet in Mollina, Spain, to exchange and share with the policy-makers and other young experts key issues relating to digital transformation in the Euro-Mediterranean area and contribute to policy shaping in the region. This year’s edition is hosted in the framework of the University on Youth and Development, organised by the North South Centre of the Council of Europe on “Empowering youth for digital safety”.

During the Forum, Digital transformation will be analysed and discussed under the three thematic pillars of EuroMeSCo, namely security, migration and economic development. Research Proposal may focus on, but are not limited to:

- The role of youth in influencing and shaping digital sovereignty polices in the region.

- The impact of digital sovereignty on young people's access to education, employment, and digital opportunities.

-  The intersection of digital and green transition, exploring how digitalisation can drive sustainable development in the region and create green jobs for youth.

- The use of digital technologies to address environmental changes, from green hydrogen to smart agriculture and waste management.

- Digital tools and migration: how can digitalisation impact migration flows, and what impact does new technology have on free movement and human rights?


Who can apply?

- Young researchers or students aged between 18 and 35 years who have obtained at least a Bachelor's degree;

- Be affiliated with a research centre, a university, or an organisation based in one of the UFM countries (Priority will be given to researchers who belong to EuroMeSCo member organisations);

- Show interest in the Forum's theme;

- Demonstrated academic or professional background about the Forum's theme is desirable.


Expenses and Benefits

- The IEMed will provide round-trip flight tickets, accommodation expenses, and meals during the Forum and will cover visa costs.

- Participants will be accommodated in double or triple rooms.

- Selected participants will be provided with more detailed information about the logistics and operational aspects of the forum


Timeline

Application deadline: 16 June 2025, ( 23:59 CET)

Selection result: 23 June 2025, all applicants will be notified by email of the results of their application.

Arrival day: Participants are expected to travel to Mollina on 14 September 2025

Euromed Youth Forum: 15 and 17 September 2025

Departure day: 17 or 18 September 2025
