Volunteering Summer Festival 8 - One Month Volunteering in Italy (Fully Funded)

An open call for 15 young individuals from across Europe interested in spending one month in a rural environment in Italy to apply for the 8th edition of the "Volunteering Summer Festival" project, which takes place in Bergolo, the rural context of Alta Langa, Piedmont, Italy, from 25th of August 2025 to 18th of September 2025 (including travel days). The V.S.F. 8  is organised by Vagamondo and funded by the European Solidarity Corps programme of the European Union.


About the Volunteering

“Volunteering Summer Fest" brings together 15 young people aged between 18 to 30 years old for 24 days of volunteering in the rural context of Alta Langa, Piedmont, Italy. The main tasks during the volunteering project are:

- Take care of green areas: Weed pedestrian roads and do other activities in green areas, such as helping in the garden.

- Renovation works: Scratching old paint from the walls and repainting them, creating furniture out of recycled wood, building flower beds, and more.

- Cooking: Join the team of cooks to prepare the meals for yourself and other volunteers during volunteering days.

- Festival of the town: Support planning and realizing the annual Festival of Bergolo.

Important Note: The programme is flexible, and it may be that some of the tasks will be replaced. Be ready to experience yourself in different fields.


Disconnection Week

An excellent experience! During 7 days, Volunteers will be asked to disconnect from devices and engage in various activities to discover themselves and their relationships with others. The immersive experience, guided by supervisors, aims to foster genuine human connections. In this experience, instead of being online, you will be engaged in various live interactions to simulate creativity, empathy, and teamwork.

Eligibility| Who can apply?

- Young people aged between 18 and 30 years old. 

- Be a resident in one of the covered countries by the ESC Programme, check the list here (you don't need a Visa to enter Italy)

- You are facing challenging situations in your life as described here

- Interested in getting to know and cooperating with other young volunteers from different countries.

- You want to live for 1 month in a rural environment in Italy, and discover the local area and get to know its inhabitants.

- You want to improve your practical and manual skills, your group work competencies, and your sense of initiative.


Expenses and Benefits

- Participants will live together in Cozy Alveare hostel, named "The Hive" in Bergolo.

- The hostel offers a welcoming ambiance and a communal dining area, comfortable shared bedrooms with 2/3/4 beds, and a well-equipped kitchen catering to group needs.

- The hostel has a laundry room and a public Wi-Fi network available to anyone.

- Volunteers will be provided a place for cooking and will receive a weekly allowance for the group to cook all together. This project is aimed at promoting a vegan/ vegetarian approach.

- You will receive 6 EUR/day as pocket money to cover your small expenses. This is not a payment for the support given.

- Besides the European Health Insurance Card, you are going to be offered private volunteering insurance at HENNER. 

- Volunteers will receive bicycles that they can use in their free time. Once a week, they will have the chance to go to the supermarket by car.

Your international travel expenses will be reimbursed according to the distance between your home and Italy, according to the following limits: 

  • from 10 – 99 km - 56 EUR (Green Travel)/ 28 EUR (Non-Green Travel)
  • from 100 – 499 km - 285 EUR (Green Travel)/ 211 EUR (Non-Green Travel)
  • from 500 – 1999 km - 417 EUR (Green Travel)/ 309 EUR (Non-Green Travel)
  • from 2000 – 2999 km - 395 EUR (Green Travel)/ 535 EUR (Non-Green Travel)

IMPORTANT

  • Green travel is mandatory; you must travel sustainably (bike, train, bus, etc)
  • Keep all your travel documents and tickets for reimbursements. No documents = No reimbursement!
  • Please send your travel proposition by email to the organisers and wait for their confirmation before purchasing your tickets!

- Participants are entitled to receive a YouthPass certificate after the project, where you are expected to self-assess your own learning, and you can add it to your CV.
