An exciting opportunity for young professionals working in science, technology, and innovation-related fields from Asia and European Union countries to join a 7-week-long online Training and in-person Youth Summit in Copenhagen, Denmark. The Training and Youth Summit 2025 is organised by the Asia-Europe Foundation in Partnership with CESSIT (Central European Scientific Society of Innovation and Technology), hosted by and with the Financial contribution from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark.
About ASEF Training and Youth Summit 2025
The Asia-Europe Training and Youth Summit on Science and Technology Diplomacy 2025 is an international programme that brings together young professionals from Asia and Europe to strengthen their knowledge and skills in the field of science and technology diplomacy. It includes a series of online training sessions followed by an in-person summit in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The initiative is designed for young researchers, science managers, diplomats, and government officials who are passionate about international collaboration and using science and technology to solve global challenges. Through expert-led sessions, networking opportunities, and real-life case studies, participants will gain valuable insights into how science and policy can work together across borders.
What will the programme look like?
The Asia-Europe Training and Youth Summit on Science and Technology Diplomacy takes place from October to December 2025, consisting of 2 programme elements:
1) Online training
The Asia-Europe Training on Science and Technology Diplomacy 2025 takes place between 23 October and 4 December 2025 and is a 7-week-long online, interactive training offering engaging learning experiences to young professionals working in the intersection of science, technology, and international relations.
Through webinars and interactive workshops, the Training will cover topics such as:
- Science Impacting Diplomacy
- Diplomacy Impacting Science
- Innovation and Technology in Diplomacy
The importance of understanding Personal, Cultural, and Professional lenses of yourself and other stakeholders when engaging in Science and Technology Diplomacy.
2) Youth Summit
Selected participants from the online Training will be invited to join the Asia-Europe Youth Summit on Science and Technology Diplomacy between 15-18 December 2025 in Copenhagen, Denmark, organised alongside the 2nd European Science Diplomacy Conference.
At the Conference, youth delegates will present a Declaration on Youth Perspectives on Asia-Europe Cooperation in Science Diplomacy, contributing their voice.
Eligibility| Who can apply?
- Young professionals up to 35 years old from eligible countries* in Asia and Europe.
- Applicants should be currently working as either research or science managers in universities, research institutions, or civil society, or as diplomats or government officials in public institutions.
- Having a strong command of English (spoken and written) is required.
- Most importantly, applicants should have experience or a strong interest in science and technology diplomacy and be motivated to contribute to international cooperation between Asia and Europe.
*Asia: Australia, Bangladesh, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Viet Nam.
*Europe: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
Expenses and Benefits
- The participation in the training and youth Summit is free of charge
- For participants who get invited to the Youth Summit, the organisers will provide meals, accommodation, and reimburse their travel costs (airfare, visa fees, transportation allowance).
