An exciting opportunity for changemakers from all over Europe to join the German-Baltic Conference Riga 2025 - Europe shall hear you. This year's event will take place in Riga, Latvia, from 16 to 19 October 2025. It brings together young people from Europe, especially Germany and the Baltic States, to engage in policy-making, international dialogue, and networking.
About GBC Riga 2025
German Baltic Conference Riga 2025 is a unique project that aims to bring together about 25 young people from all over Europe to explore the importance of security and the role of youth in addressing and responding to today’s security challenges. The Participants will be divided into two main categories as follows:
A) 21 Youth Ambassadors (YA) who will have the chance to work together within three respective clusters:
Cluster A – European Security & Defence Innovations
Explore innovations in defence – from AI and technology to new conscription models and public-private partnerships. Help shape ethical frameworks and attract young talent into Europe’s defence future.
Cluster B – European Security & International Cooperation
Rethink Europe’s global alliances: What’s the EU’s role in NATO? How should we cooperate with the US, Ukraine, and others? Dive deep into global partnerships for European peace and stability.
Cluster C – European Security & Discourse
Words matter! Examine how language shapes our understanding of "security", "democracy", and "threats". Analyse real EU policy discourse and help redefine narratives that drive European action.
As a Youth Ambassador, you have a great learning opportunity to participate in one of the
clusters where you will discuss challenges for your respective subtopic and draft a policy paper
that outlines solutions. You may also have the opportunity to present your policy paper alongside
your cluster members at a hearing with Members of European Parliament (MEPs) in Brussels
following the conference.
B) Four Young journalists who will report on dynamic discussions and collaborations between young people and youth organisations at our annual German-Baltic Conference (GBC).
As a journalist, your role will be:
- Shadow Your Cluster or GBYEN group: Engage with conference work sessions, workshops, and activities within your assigned cluster or GBYEN group.
- Participate in Other Conference Activities: Attend the other various activities in the program, including panel discussions and keynote speeches, cultural activities, and social events.
- Present Your Thoughts: On the final day of the conference, you will be asked to present a short overview of your impressions of the conference during the Final Results Presentation.
-Create Content: Following the conference, you are asked to develop a journalistic piece of your choice (video, article, podcast, etc.)
- Highlighting your conference experience and insights on your cluster or group’s activities. This journalistic piece will be shared across the DBJW’s social media and other platforms to your credit.
