About the GovAI Winter Fellowship

The GovAI Winter Fellowship 2026 at the Centre for the Governance of AI (GovAI) is a three-month fellowship that offers participants an overall experience to dive into their expertise in AI governance. Fellows will spend three months conducting independent research on a topic of their choice, guided by mentors from GovAI’s team or affiliate network. The fellowship begins with an exploratory phase, where participants finalize their research proposal with input from their supervisors. Throughout the program, Fellows engage in a range of enriching activities, including Q&A sessions with AI governance experts, research seminars, and collaborative work-in-progress meetings. The program encourages the production of valuable outputs such as reports, journal articles, or blog posts.

In addition to research, the fellowship provides opportunities to explore the broader AI governance landscape and connect with experts in the field. GovAI supports Fellows in planning their next career steps, whether in academia, industry, or policymaking. Fellows benefit from a collaborative and intellectually stimulating environment, with access to resources such as a dedicated workspace, mentorship, and networking opportunities. The program is designed not only to foster rigorous research but also to prepare participants to shape the future of AI governance through meaningful contributions.
