About the Volunteering Project

"Reforestation in Granada Mountains & Healthy living" is a short-term ESC volunteering project for two months organised by Semillistas, a non-profit association working since 2018, located in the mountainous rural area of Granada – Las Alpujarras. Volunteers will participate in ongoing research and efforts to restore the land through direct seed sowing. They will dedicate between 30 and 38 hours per week to the project, with weekends free and some short breaks during the day for rest. The main activities include:

Reforestation work four mornings a week: sowing seeds in Sierra Lújar, collecting seeds, building protective barriers, creating and digging swales, and monitoring the survival of past plantings.

Educational sessions once a week: lectures and workshops on sustainable living, regeneration, permaculture, deep ecology, project design, and related topics.

Well-being practices three afternoons a week: yoga, qi gong, and other self-care activities. Once a month, each volunteer can choose a professional body-care treatment from local practitioners in Órgiva.

Community living: learning and practicing cohabitation skills, including group meetings, weekly planning, shared tasks (cooking, cleaning), logistics, emotional support circles, conflict resolution, and adopting eco-friendly habits to reduce environmental impact.

Mentoring: weekly one-on-one meetings with a mentor to discuss personal well-being, growth, and learning progress.
