About the GovAI Summer Fellowship
The GovAI Summer Research Fellowship 2026 offers participants an immersive opportunity to deepen their expertise in AI governance. Fellows spend three months conducting independent, policy-relevant research on a topic of their choice, guided by supervisors from GovAI’s team or affiliate network.
The fellowship begins with an initial exploration phase, during which fellows familiarise themselves with the AI governance landscape and refine their research proposal with expert input. Research outputs may include policy reports, white papers, journal articles, op-eds, or blog posts, depending on the fellow’s goals and audience. Alongside research, fellows participate in Q&A sessions with AI governance experts, seminars, skills-building workshops, peer feedback meetings, and networking events. GovAI also supports fellows in exploring follow-on career opportunities in academia, government, industry, or think tanks.
The program is designed to foster rigorous research, intellectual honesty, and real-world impact, preparing participants to meaningfully contribute to the future of AI governance.
