Forestry and Environmental | One-Month Team Volunteering in Iceland (Fully Funded)

About the Volunteering

This environmental volunteering project takes place in Siglufjörður, North Iceland, where participants support the local community through forestry work, beach cleaning (April–June), and environmental maintenance (June–September). Tasks vary depending on seasonal needs and daily priorities, requiring flexibility, teamwork, and a willingness to engage in outdoor physical work. Volunteers work around 5 hours per day, 5 days a week, gaining hands-on experience in reforestation, forest care, trail maintenance, and basic construction. Beyond practical skills, the project promotes sustainability awareness, cultural exchange, and intercultural learning, all while allowing participants to enjoy the peaceful and stunning natural landscapes of northern Iceland.

Eligibility | Who can apply?

- Young people aged between 18 and 30 years of age from one of the following countries (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia)

Expenses and Benefits

Volunteers will be staying in the house of Worldwide Friends. The house has two large dormitory rooms (8 people each), two double rooms, a fully equipped kitchen, several bathrooms, and comfortable common areas.

Wireless internet access is provided free of charge at the accommodation. Washing machine on site.

Food is included for the entire duration of the work camp; however, everyone is expected to do their fair share of cooking and cleaning.

Since it's always fun to try new and different dishes, volunteers are encouraged to bring their favorite recipes from home.

- Organizers do not provide soft drinks or candies, but they do offer plenty of ingredients for baking delicious snacks. As they bake our own bread, feel free to bring your favorite golden-crust recipe from home.

- Volunteers will also have free time during the camp. Weekends are usually free and often include excursions, but when this is not possible, the Camp Leader will plan group activities such as hiking, picnics, or swimming. This balance of work, leisure, and exploration ensures a rewarding and enjoyable camp experience.
