Art in Garden | ESC Team Volunteering Teams in Rome, Italy (Fully Funded)

An exciting opportunity for young people from across Europe to join the ESC Team Volunteering Project "Art in Garden: Nature, Art and Care for Shared Green Spaces", which takes place in Rome, Italy. This 2-week volunteering project runs from 14 to 29 July 2026. The project is organised by the "La Città dell’Utopia" organisation and funded by the European Union through the European Solidarity Corps program. Its goal is to promote sustainable community development through art, environmental care, and active participation.


About the Volunteering Project

Art in Garden is an ESC project hosted at La Città dell’Utopia dedicated to the care and enhancement of the garden. The team will work on maintaining green spaces, building functional wooden outdoor furniture, and creating artistic mosaics to make the outdoor areas more beautiful, welcoming, and livable.

The project combines creativity, manual work, and collective participation to improve the garden through sustainable and long-term interventions.

The aims of Art in the Garden:

- To improve and enhance the green spaces through sustainable and artistic interventions

- To promote collective care of the garden as a shared common good

- To foster creativity through public art and mosaics

- To develop practical skills in gardening, carpentry, and art

- To create more welcoming outdoor spaces for the community

- To encourage intercultural exchange among participants

- To raise awareness about sustainability and environmental responsibility

- To strengthen teamwork, collaboration, and community engagement


Eligibility | Who can apply?

- Young people aged between 18 and 30 years old.

Being a resident in one of these eligible countries: From EU programme countries and third countries associated with the European Solidarity Corps Program Zone 1 ( Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, Serbia).

To be interested in community life, living together with others, and actively contributing to the care of both people and shared spaces.

 Interest in construction and hands-on making activities.

- To be interested in art and have a creative approach, and have group work skills. 


Expenses and Benefits

This project is funded by the European Solidarity Corps program. Therefore, the host organisation can cover all essential costs of the program (including food, travel costs up to a maximum amount per country, visa costs, accommodation, and pocket money). 

- You will be hosted in the hostel of "La Città dell' Utopia". You will share a room with other volunteers. You will also share the hostel's two bathrooms. We provide sheets and blankets, but don’t forget to bring your own towels

- The food that will be cooked by the host will be vegan/vegetarian. This is not just a practical decision, but also an ideological one. 

- Each volunteer is entitled to get a travel reimbursement for (one return journey) up to the maximum cost as stated in the ESC programme rules, according to the following limits:

  • from 10-99 km: standard travel (23 EUR) / Green travel (23 EUR)
  • from 100 - 499 km: standard travel (211 EUR) / Green travel (285 EUR)
  • from 500 - 1999 km: standard travel (309 EUR) / Green travel (417 EUR)
  • from 2000 - 2999 km: standard travel (395 EUR) / Green travel (535 EUR)
