An open call for 15 participants from across Europe who are interested in gardening and manual labour to join the ESC Team Volunteering "International inclusive workcamp" which takes place in Riesa, Germany, from the 31st of August to the 13th of September 2026. This project is hosted and organized by the "VILLA" organization and funded by the European Solidarity Corps Programme of the European Union.
About the project
This international inclusive workcamp is a two-week European Solidarity Corps (ESC) Team Volunteering project that brings together 15 participants from across Europe to help restore a historic manor house and revitalize its surrounding estate. Volunteers will take part in practical activities such as gardening, manual work, campsite improvements, and restoration tasks while living and working together in an international environment.
During the first week, some students from Mahlmann School (a special education school) will be working with volunteers on the estate. All participants will learn about gardening and manual labor, and organizers plan to take trips to Meißen or Dresden to show the European participants a little bit of Saxony.
All together will work on the grounds, on the beautiful old building, and throughout the property. We will have the opportunity to stay there for two weeks and breathe new life into it. All participants are warmly invited to lead their own workshops and to actively contribute to shaping the program for these two weeks.
Eligibility| Who can apply?
- Young people aged between 18 and 30 from countries of the European Union;
- The workcamp is for people who are interested in being outdoors, working in nature, restoration, and beautification of terrain, who like camping and exchanging with other people from other European countries.
- Every participant needs to be registered on the European Solidarity Corps platform.
Expenses and Benefits
- Participation is free of charge
- The overnight stay will be in tents, which you will need to bring your own. If you don't have tents, please contact the organizers; they will find a solution.
- It is also important to bring your own sleeping mat and sleeping bag and everything else you need for comfortable camping outside.
- Each participant is entitled to get pocket money of (98€) (participation is only possible for the whole 14 days).
- In terms of food, Participants will be self- catering in cooking teams during the days.
- Each participant will get health and accident insurance.
- Each participant will receive a reimbursement of travel costs due to the program rules and the Erasmus distance calculator (lump sums) as follows:
- 10-99km: 28€ per participant | green travel: 56€
- 100-499km: 211€ per participant | green travel: 285€
- 500-1999km: 309€ per participant | green travel: 417€
