Volunteer at Children's Village in Graz, Austria (fully funded)

Description

The Children's Village is a youth welfare organisation that looks after children and young adults as legal guardians. they take care of children and young people who cannot live in their original families. Due to unfavourable conditions of socialization, they are deprived in many areas, they need support. About 40 children between the ages of 7 and 18 live in the Children's Village. The staff consists of professional workers such as psychologists, teachers, social workers, youth workers, etc. Three volunteers are hosted in different homes. They help employees with daily activities: meeting children after school, cooking, learning, doing housework, playing, spending free time, etc. They accompany children on trips or when needed and organize activities for children. Work begins in the afternoon and volunteers work 35 hours per week. Volunteers learn about the Austrian social welfare system, improve their social skills, learn about social work, education and treatment methods.


Benefits and Finance

- The volunteer will live in a shared apartment with single bedrooms.

- The volunteer will share cooking, washing, laundry, bathroom and social facilities.

- The volunteer will receive 230 euro for food per month.

- The volunteer has the possibility to have lunch and dinner for free at host organisation on all working days.

- The host organisation will provide a monthly ticket for the public transport.

- The volunteer will be provided with German course.


Training during project

On-arrival training and mid-term training provided with cooperation with the Austrian NA; regular project visits, mentoring, mediation, crisis management, evaluation/reports and support for volunteers; at least one intensive German language course.


Duration

 47 weeks from 01/02/2022 to 31/12/2022


Eligibility

- Minimum age is 21 years old.

- Knowledge of German needed. 

- Be resident in one of the following countries:

 one of EU member states

 North Macedonia and Turkey

• Liechtenstein, Iceland and Norway

• Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, Serbia

• Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine

• Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, Syria, Tunisia

 • Russian Federation

Volunteers should have an easy approach to children and prove that they have neither fears nor prejudices in taking care of social disadvantaged people.


Tasks before Applying
