ESC volunteering project with "Green Circle" in Hungary for one Month (Funded)

Zöld Kör (Green circle) organisation is looking for 25 ESC volunteers to work with it on "Act together for the nature" project. This project will include some activities aimed at preserving nature, plants, birds and animals. This project is one of the European Solidarity Corps projects and the costs of participating in the project .will be covered by the host organisation.

About Zöld Kör (Green cricle)

Zöld Kör (Green cricle) is a non-governmental organisation established in 1991 to conserve nature and the environment. Our headquarters and central office are located in the main square in Hajdúböszörmény, Hungary and also have their own camping site on the banks of the Bodrog River. The association employs about 10-15 full-time employees with dozens of volunteers throughout the year. The main objective of the association is to conserve nature and raise the level of environmental awareness of the growing generation, putting the bad innervation of the elderly back on the right track, thus helping us to strive for sustainability.


About the Project

This project will be organised for about a month with the aim of preserving nature and the environment. The project will include the following activities:

- Reclamation of invasive alien plant species in a nature reserve.

- Elimination of illegal landfills and continuous cleaning in the Bodrog region

- Maintenance of bird and mammal protection equipment such as bird nests and nesting boxes.

These activities are carried out for two weeks along the Bodrog River and for one week in Hajdúság and the remaining week will be organised in the Hungarian part of the Bodrog River where the volunteer team will collect the floating waste on the river. In general, the volunteer team will work for five days a week, with two days off, and the average daily working hours are six hours.


Finance and Benefits

- Volunteers will be accommodated in a youth hostel on the fabulous Bodrogolasi coast for the first 3 weeks but the last week volunteers will be accommodated in a youth hostel in Hajdúböszörmény.

- Volunteers will have a shared room with 2-4 beds, Kitchen and free internet access.

- Host organisation will provide 4 meals per day with at least one hot meal.

- Host organisation prefer green travel to and from Hungary and they will cover travel costs for all participants.

- You will get a bicycle for local transportation. 

- An opportunity to learn Hungarian language.

- Building relationships with young people with similar interests.


Eligibility

- Your age between 18 - 30 years.

- You are a resident in one of the following countries:

EU countries, UK, Iceland, North Macedonia, Turkey, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, Serbia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine, Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, Syria, Tunisia, Ukraine, Russia and another countries.

- Young people who have interest with protecting nature and the environment. 

- Able to work well in a team.

- Knowledge of Swimming is an advantage.


Duration

A total of 27 days from 15th of August to 11th of September 2022.
