About IMF

The IMF was established in 1944 in the aftermath of the Great Depression of the 1930s. 44 founding member countries sought to build a framework for international economic cooperation. Today, its membership embraces 190 countries, with staff drawn from 150 nations. The IMF is governed by and accountable to those 190 countries that make up its near-global membership.

About YFP

The IMF Youth Fellowship Program (YFP) provides young leaders between the ages of 20 and 35 from all over the world the chance to join the IMF at the forefront of the response to global economic difficulties and become a part of global endeavour to build forward better.

Since it began accepting applications in August 2020, the IMF YFP has garnered more than 9,000 applicants. Selected participants will receive sponsorship from the IMF to attend the World Bank-IMF Annual Meetings in Marrakech, Morocco, this year.

- Having opportunity to meet scholars, activists, leaders, and experts while creating lasting connections with other youth fellows from around the world.

- The chosen youth fellows will participate in live workshops led by IMF management, senior IMF personnel, and outside experts as part of the program. Additionally, they will receive access to Marrakech's Annual Meeting seminars and festivities.

Eligibility

To be a successful applicant for this opportunity you should:

- Aged between 20 and 35 years as of October 15, 2023.

- Be a citizen of an IMF member country.

- Having proven experience in one or more of the following

• Participating in a civil society organisation or social activism
• Involvement in entrepreneurship or a start-up
• Content creation/influencer and/or contributing to independent platforms

- Having knowledge and proficiency in basic economics, international studies, and development issues, particularly those relating to inclusive economic growth, the digital economy, or climate change.

- Having a degree in, or are presently enrolled in, a related discipline such as communications, economics, or international relations and development.

- Having good public speaking and presentation skills.

- Have no current affiliation with government institutions.

- Haven't been a fellow of the YFP before.

Selecting participants: July 2023
