About ESU

The European Students’ Union (ESU) is the umbrella organisation of 45 national unions of students’ from 40 European countries. ESU promotes and represents the educational, social, economic and cultural interests of almost 20 million students to all key European decision-making bodies: the European Union, Council of Europe, UNESCO and the Bologna Follow Up Group.

Throughout the years, ESU has witnessed different internal and external changes while constantly developing itself to what it is right now: a professional advocacy and capacity building organisation that is effective and recognised as an important stakeholder at the European and international level.


About AWP Programme

European Students' Union (ESU) is proud to announce a call for participants in a series of activities within ‘YOU(TH) ACT FOR FUTURE: Enhancing Youth Engagement towards Climate Action and Sustainable Communities.  This call is an excellent opportunity for  young people aged between 18 to 29 years old to increase their general and specific knowledge of a different set of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), more specifically, on SDG 11 “Sustainable communities and cities”, SDG 13 “Climate Action”, and SDG 17 “Partnership for the goals”, by having non-formal education sessions.

The activities are being organised by the European Students Union (ESU) supported by the Youth Department of the Council of Europe and are dedicated to representatives or active students from national students unions or representatives of youth organisations with a focus on very different topics (inclusion, civic engagement, activism, etc..)

Annual Work Plan Programme consists of 3 phases: 

Phase I : Climate action and sustainable communities for all!

Location: Almeria, Spain 

Dates: 18th to 24th of February 2024

Phase II:  DECENTRALISED ACTIONS - Taking action for local impact!

Location: Different locations

Dates: TBC

Phase III : Show me what you made and let’s partner up!

Location: Different locations

Dates: October 2024


Eligibility Criteria

- Young people aged between 18-29 years old.

- Be a national for one of the 47 member states of the Council of Europe and parties to the European Cultural Convention

- Have a good command of English language (B2 or more)

- Ability to be actively involved in all the workshops and activities for the entire duration of the session 

- Have an experience of youth/student representation and civic participation with an organisation, university, school, etc.

Participating in the whole Cycle, or/and implementing an activity.

Must be open to participating in a group of culturally and gender diverse individuals that may have various backgrounds


Financial conditions 

- All participation expenses related to (program, accommodation, international travel, food, transportation within the city during the event) are covered by the host organisation.

- Participants must save all the receipts for the tickets and items they wish to have reimbursed. 

- Participants need to be present for the whole duration of the study session to get the reimbursements

- If you need special assistance, It will be provided ensuring accessibility of the study session. Please indicate any special assistance needed in your application form.
