About "Cortes de la Frontera"

Cortes de la Frontera is a municipality located in the province of Málaga, Spain. It is situated in the region of Andalusia, specifically in the Serrania de Ronda. The town is known for its picturesque setting amidst the mountains and its traditional Andalusian charm.

Cortes de la Frontera has a rich history, with evidence of human settlement dating back to prehistoric times. The town's strategic location near the border between the kingdoms of Castile and Granada during the medieval period earned it the addition of "de la Frontera" to its name, indicating its frontier status.

Today, Cortes de la Frontera attracts visitors with its natural beauty, offering opportunities for hiking, birdwatching, and exploring the surrounding countryside. The town itself features narrow streets, whitewashed buildings, and a relaxed atmosphere typical of Andalusian villages. It's also a gateway to the Grazalema Natural Park, a stunning area known for its rugged limestone landscapes and diverse flora and fauna.
