Roma Youth Together 2024 in Strasbourg, France (Fully Funded)

Open call for Roma young people, youth leaders, and youth workers from across Europe to join "Roma Youth Together 2024" - A seminar on Roma youth empowerment and pride for the celebration of the International Roma Day organised by the European Youth Centre of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, France from 5-8 April 2024. 


About Roma Youth Together 

The seminar Roma Youth Together 2024 will bring together young people who are youth leaders and/or youth workers in Roma and Travellers communities and organisations across Europe. The seminar aims to empower Roma youth leaders across Europe to recognise their potential through positive actions. Its specific objectives are: 

to share experiences and facts of Roma youth across Europe, especially in relation to significative youth participation;

to empower Roma youth and Roma civil society to act as agents of change and multipliers in their communities;

- to support participants’ potential for expression of cultural identity and pride, action and visibility, both online and offline;

to connect young Roma with the Council of Europe’s work in the field of Roma youth participation;

- to celebrate International Roma Day with Roma youth as front-runners in shaping it;

- to strengthen the sense of Roma youth community and connect with European youth organisations.

The seminar's methodology will be built on the ideas of human rights education, peer-to-peer learning, practice exchanges, and participant discourse through the use of interactive teaching techniques like working groups, creative workshops, and moderated debates. It will be organised in relation to the Council of Europe's earlier work on youth involvement among the Roma.

Eligibility | Who can apply

The seminar is designed for Roma youth, youth leaders or youth workers in Roma communities, representatives of organisations and networks working with Roma communities from across Europe. Participants should also be:

- Aged between 18 -30 years of age;

- Motivated to meed and cooperate with other Roma youth;

- Active member in Roma organisation, Youth organisation, community or informal group interested in working with Roma youth;

- Committed to act as multipliers for empowerment of Roma youth;

- Able to work and communicate in English;

- Able to attend the whole seminar and the programme activities.

The Council of Europe welcomes applications from all candidates who fulfil the above mentioned competences profile, irrespective of gender, disability, marital or parental status, racial, ethnic, or social origin, colour, religion, belief or sexual orientation.


Practical conditions

The seminar is funded by the Council of Europe and includes the following;

- There is no participation fee 

- Travel expenses and visa fees for travelling to Strasbourg will be reimbursed according to the rules of the Council of Europe.

- Participants will be accommodated in the European Youth Centre in Strasbourg, Board and lodging for the seminar will be provided and paid for by the Council of Europe.
