Open call for 12 volunteers for 3-week volunteering project in the Suderbyn Permaculture Ecovillage in Sweden. The project aims to create sustainable living spaces through activities organised by the infrastructure/building domain of Suderbyn. This project is organised by "RELEARN Suderbyn" organisation and funded by the European Solidarity Corps programme of the European Union.
About the volunteering
ReGreen aims to bring together 12 young people for a 21-day educational, practical, and social adventure at Suderbyn Permaculture Eco-village. Suderbyn hosts a diverse international community of people who committed to environmental stewardship, practicing permaculture principles and embracing voluntary simplicity in daily life. The working days during the project will include both theory and practice, enabling the volunteers to directly apply everything that has been learnt at a conceptual level. The main goal is to goal is to equip volunteers with practical skills and knowledge that they can continue to utilise beyond their time during the project.
The project bring together 3 themes over the course of 3 weeks:
(1) Infrastructure specific project: this year Suderbyn wants to install a new greenhouse to improve and extend the vegetables production. This means identifying the best place according to permaculture principles, setting up the new poly-tunnel and working the soil to create new beds.
(2) Permaculture: Volunteers will explore permaculture design principles and how they are being applied in our organic community garden. The tasks (foraging, processing, forest-garden care, weeding, harvesting...) will allow volunteers to come into closer connection with the land and its more-than-human inhabitants, as well as to develop a deeper understanding for the soil and the ecosystem, and the food the land provides.
(3) Personal and group development with the social domain and the community’s NGO RELEARN.
