"Young people, democracy and climate action" Symposium in France (Fully Funded)

An open call from EU-Council of Europe Youth Partnership for participants to attend the "Young people, democracy and climate action symposium" which will be held from 24-26 September 2024 in European Youth Strasbourg, France. All expenses related to the participation will be covered by the Council of Europe Youth Partnership.

About the Symposium

The EU-Council of Europe Youth Partnership is inviting young people to join the upcoming symposium " "Young people, democracy and climate action" in Strasbourg, France. The main goal of the Symposium is to provide the European youth sector with unique opportunity to discuss how young people are engaging with these issues, the main emerging topics and challenges, and how youth research, youth policy and youth work can adapt and respond to the changing context. The event aims to:

- Explore the consequences of the climate crisis on young people and the youth sector in Europe, including young people's approach to addressing the climate crisis and their experiences of eco-anxiety;

 Examine and reflect on how youth policy and youth work can can adjust and react to the changing context;

Share good practices of effective and successful youth policy and youth work in relation to youth climate action;

Connect actors working on these themes, from within and beyond the youth sector, to continue, develop or innovate in relation to that work;

Elevate the existing Youth Partnership’s research and resources on this topic as well as the work done by the partner institutions and other youth sector stakeholders.

The event will cover the following themes:

● Trends of young people’s participation in climate justice (including movements, strategic litigation, etc.);

● Eco-anxiety and other climate emotions;

● Youth policy, youth research and youth work responses to climate crisis;

● Youth workers’ competences and youth organisations’ capacities to support young people’s demands for climate justice



Eligibility | Who can apply?

The Symposium will bring together around 120 participants from the European youth field, including young people, policy makers, youth workers and youth researchers. Participants should met the following requirements

- Citizens or residents of one of the Council of Europe member states (or Kazakhstan and the Holy See);

- Young activists and youth organisations;

- Youth workers, trainers, teachers, or educators;

- Policy makers or civil servants (European, national, regional or local level);

- Participants must be able to express themselves in English well, since it's the main language of the event 


Expenses and Benefits

The EU-Council of Europe Youth Partnership will cover the following

- The accommodation and meals from at the European Youth Centre in Strasbourg, France.

- The visa and travel costs according to the rule in place.


Timeline

Application deadline: 20th of May 2024 (23:59 CEST).

Selection result: All participants will be informed of selection results by early July 2024 the latest.

Arrival day: 23rd of September 2024

Event days: 24-26th of September 2024

Departure day: 26th of September 2024
