About CIVS Kenya

CIVS Kenya is a Community Development Organisation focused on marginalised and economically disadvantaged rural areas of Kenya. Its primary goal is to implement a comprehensive approach to socio-economic and cultural development, aiming to alleviate poverty and address social exclusion within Kenyan communities.

About the volunteering

This 21-day project, organised by CIVS Kenya, provides volunteers with a unique chance to contribute to community development and environmental sustainability in underserved areas. Volunteers will participate in various activities, including permaculture tasks such as tree planting to increase vegetation cover and reduce environmental risks like soil drought and flooding. Additionally, they will assist with agricultural projects aimed at enhancing farming practices and boosting productivity for local farmers. The project also includes capacity-building activities, such as conducting training sessions on environmental issues at schools and community centres. Volunteers can expect a dynamic daily schedule that includes hands-on fieldwork, interaction with community members, and opportunities for personal and professional development. Volunteers will work full-time (30 to 38 hours per week) and will have two days off each week.
