An exciting opportunity for young people from all around Europe to join the short-term ESC Volunteering "Forest Explores: Volunteering Nature Quest" in Samobor, Croatia. This volunteering project is organised by "POZITIVA SAMOBOR" and funded by the European Solidarity Corps Programme of the European Union.

About the Volunteering

The main goal of this volunteering project is to improve the Greenville Forest educational polygon by developing a marked trail with QR codes and natural play elements, thus promoting environmental awareness, community involvement, and physical activity among children and visitors. Specific objectives include:

 - Establishing a marked trail with QR codes or signs that identify various plant species and provide educational information about local flora. Volunteer Benefits: Volunteers will gain knowledge about local plant species, learn to create educational content, and develop project planning and execution skills.

 - Building natural play elements such as log climbing structures, balance beams, and rope bridges in the play area. Volunteer Benefits: Volunteers will gain practical experience in sustainable construction techniques, team-building skills, and the fulfilment of creating recreational spaces for children and youth.


Eligibility | Who can apply?

- Young people aged between 18 - 30 years old;

- A citizen or a resident in one of the following countries (Albania, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom)

Volunteers must be ready to live and volunteer in a rural setting for 21 days.

- An open-minded and cooperative attitude is essential.

- Basic level of English is required to ensure effective communication among the volunteers and the project organisers.

Volunteers should be eager to work in a team and live harmoniously with other volunteers from different countries.

- There is no any previous experience required.


Expenses and Benefits

- Volunteers will be stayed at a rural house GRRENVILLE  in a surrounding area of Samobor, Croatia. The shared rooms in the house will be equipped by 2-6 participants with bathroom.

Participants will be provided with 3 meals a day (breakfast, lunch, dinner) during the working days (Monday – Friday)

- For the weekends, participants will receive 20 EUR/day for their meals, as the food will not be prepared on the project venue during Saturday/Sunday.

- Participants are entitled to receive a pocket money for the period of the project to cover the personal expenses.

Your international travel expenses will be reimbursed according to the distance between your home and Italy according to the following limits:

  • for travel distance between 100 and 499 km: 180 EUR / person, +30 EUR extra for Green travel.
  • for travel distance between 500 and 1999 km: 275 EUR / person, +45 EUR extra for Green travel.
  • for travel distance between 2000 and 2999 km: 360 EUR / person, +50 EUR extra for Green travel.

  • IMPORTANT: keep all your travel documents! Online boarding passes and tickets for reimbursements. No documents = No reimbursement!
  • IMPORTANT: Please send your travel proposition per e-mail to the organisers and wait for their confirmation before purchasing your tickets!

- Participants are entitled to receive a YouthPass certificate after the project where you are expected to self-assess your own learning and you can add it to your CV.

Application deadline: 12 August 2024

Arrival day : 3 September 2024

Departure day: 23 of September 2024

Note: You have 4-6 extra days in total that you can use before or after the project to travel around Croatia. If you wish to do so, bare in mind that you need to cover the costs for your accommodation & food. Late arrivals or early departures are not allowed.
