An exciting opportunity for 15 young people from EU countries to join short-term ESC Team volunteering at the Hostel Parco Monte Barro in Italy for one month. This volunteering project aims to promote well being and healthy lifestyle both of volunteers and local communities. This project is organised by Joint Association and funded by the European Solidarity Corps programme of the European Union.
About Joint Association
Joint association is an association of social promotion from Milan, active since 2003, that offers international mobility and non-formal education to young people with an emphasis on participants with fewer opportunities.
Its main values are: equality, mobility, non formal learning, eco-sustainability, multiculturalism, quality, reliability, and discovery. In particular, They promote activities related to Erasmus+ Programme, such as: European Solidarity Corps (including ESC Team), International Exchanges, Training Courses, Capacity Building, Strategic Partnerships, etc.
About the volunteering
The project will take place at the Hostel Parco Monte Barro which is an eco-hostel with environmentally sustainable values and parameters. It is located in the middle of Monte Barro Regional Park, situated at 750m above sea level.
The project will involve 15 volunteers that will collaborate with the staff members of Legambiente related to the management and improvement of sustainable practices and activities at Ostello Parco Monte Barro and the safeguard of local fauna. In the first 5 days of the project you volunteers will have on arrival training when you will learn more about the rules, volunteers, and tasks.
- Main activities will include, creative recycling, up cycling, maintenance, and development of the space of the hostel.
- One day per week during the whole project will be dedicated to the preparation of the campaign and then safeguarding an important colony of toads that leaves nearby.
The organisation will host workshops on various topics and organise visits with some activities in sustaining sustainability of the nearby areas.
Eligibility | Who can apply?
- Young people aged between 18 -30 years old;
- A legal resident or a citizen of an EU Country;
- Interested in living in an isolated area and ready to work with farm animals or toads;
- Ready to do physical or manual work and "get hands dirty";
- Ready to follow vegan or vegetarian diet;
- Ready to cook for yourself and others;
- Ready to share private spaces with the team;
- Open minded, Positive, Peaceful attitude, proactive, and respectful;
- Flexibility to adapt to possible changes;
- Intermediate knowledge of English.
Expenses and Benefits
- Your basic costs will be covered (your travel to and from the project, and the accommodation place in Galbiate (Lecco), Italy).
- The volunteers will accommodated in double or triple rooms with an inner bathroom.
- Breakfast (Italian basic - sweet breakfast) + Lunch + Dinner (Lunch and dinner will be prepared by the volunteers with the support of local volunteers ). Any additional food or beverages will be at the volunteer's own expenses.
- Each volunteer is entitled to receive a pocket money of 17 EUR/day for personal expenses ((the traveling expenses, visa and insurance costs are NOT included)
- Free WI-FI will be available at the main areas of the hostel. Once you arrive at the venue, organisers will provide you with the password and other information.
- Volunteers are entitled to receive a youthpass certificate for their participation in the ESC Volunteering project.
