EIGE Traineeship 2026 - Brussels Liaison Office in Belgium (Paid)

An excellent opportunity for university graduates with a recognised university degree, with initial experience related to gender equality, to apply for the EIGE Traineeships at the Brussels Liaison Office 2026, offered by the European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE). 

This is an 11-month paid traineeship based in Brussels, Belgium, within EIGE’s Stakeholder Relations Team under the Outreach and Engagement Unit. The traineeship provides hands-on experience in EU institutions, gender equality policy, stakeholder engagement, and EU policy monitoring.

About the EIGE Traineeship

The EIGE Brussels Liaison Office Traineeship 2026 is designed to give young graduates practical experience in the work of an EU agency, with a strong focus on gender equality, EU policymaking, and stakeholder relations.

Trainees will support EIGE’s cooperation with EU institutions, Member State representations, civil society organisations, and social partners, while contributing to policy-relevant research and communication activities. Each trainee is supervised throughout the entire traineeship period and works in a multicultural and collaborative environment.

The traineeship aims to:

- Provide on-the-job training in EU stakeholder relations

- Allow trainees to apply academic knowledge in a real EU context

- Offer practical experience within an EU agency

- Support professional development in gender equality and social policy


Tasks and Responsibilities

Selected trainees may be involved in tasks such as:

- Supporting the organisation of stakeholder events, visits, and meetings in Brussels

- Monitoring EU policy developments relevant to gender equality

- Preparing briefing notes, speaking points, and background papers

- Assisting with the organisation of the bi-annual Gender Equality Forum

- Supporting EIGE’s priority topics for 2026 (e.g. care, gender-based violence)

- Facilitating coordination between the Brussels office and Vilnius headquarters

- Carrying out additional tasks assigned by the supervisor or Head of Unit


Eligibility | Who can apply?

Trainees must:

- Be 18 years of age or older;

 - Be nationals of a Member State of the European Union [1], EFTA, or IPA-qualifying countries [2]

- Hold a recognised university degree (completed full cycle of studies)

- Have not previously completed a traineeship in another EU institution or body

- Have initial experience or academic background related to gender equality (through studies, research, dissertation, or professional experience)

Have a thorough knowledge (C1 level) of English, which is the Agency’s working language.

- Relevant study fields include (but are not limited to): Communications, Public Relations, International or European Studies, Political Science, Social Policy, and Gender Studies.

[1] The countries that qualify are Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, and Sweden.

[2] The countries that qualify are Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo*, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Turkey.


Expenses and Benefits

- Each trainee is entitled to receive a monthly grant of 1,513.16 EUR to support personal expenses and rent.

Trainees receive a flat-rate travel allowance based on the distance between their recruitment location and the traineeship location, limited to EU, EFTA, and IPA countries, with no reimbursement for distances under 200 km.

Health insurance must be arranged by the trainees themselves.

Trainees are entitled to teleworking up to 60% of the working week. Requests shall be submitted accordingly in the Agency’s leave management system and shall be approved by the line manager before the teleworking begins.

Trainees are entitled to two days of leave for each month during their traineeship, applied on a pro rata basis. Days of leave not taken by the end of the traineeship are not paid in lieu.
