United in Diversity | ESC Humanitarian Aid Volunteering in Vietnam (Fully Funded)

An exciting opportunity for 20 international volunteers from ESC Programme countries to join the "UNITY Project," which consists of two team deployments to strengthen educational support in disadvantaged communities. The "United in Diversity Vietnam" project takes place in Hanoi, Vietnam, from the 1st of July to the 31st of August 2026. This project is organised by "Pi Youth Association" from Turkiye in collaboration with "CSDS Vietnam" and funded by the European Solidarity Corps Programme of the European Union.


About the Volunteering Project

United in Diversity Vietnam" is a two-month Humanitarian Aid Volunteering Project that takes place in Hanoi, the Capital of Vietnam (July - August 2026). For two months,  a group of 20 international volunteers will be working together with local schools and youth to deliver peer-to-peer English, digital, and soft-skills learning, after‑school tutoring, and community awareness activities, with a strong focus on preventing girls’ school dropout and promoting gender equality. 

The project aims to strengthen the capacity of volunteers and local youth leaders, support around 100 vulnerable children in Vietnam, establish sustainable peer-support networks through the EQUIP approach, and develop replicable tools and dissemination materials to ensure long-term impact and transferability. 


Training during the Project

Arrival & orientation: introduction to local logistics, accommodation, transport, daily schedule, and emergency contacts.

Cultural orientation: overview of local customs, social norms, basic Thai phrases, and intercultural communication.

Child protection & safeguarding: policies, reporting procedures, appropriate boundaries, and confidentiality.

Pedagogical methods for non-formal education: learner-centered approaches, active learning techniques, classroom management, and lesson planning for children aged 5–14.

English teaching methodology: communicative teaching approaches, scaffolded learning activities, assessment methods, and remedial tutoring strategies.

Peer-to-peer facilitation: techniques for supporting collaborative learning and engagement among participants.


Eligibility | Who can apply?

- Young people aged between 18-30 years and livining in one of the following countries (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Türkiye) 

- Volunteers should have a strong interest in humanitarian aid, education, gender equality, and community development. 

- Volunteers should be able to stay the entire duration of the volunteering project, which is a 59-day deployment (57 days on-site + 2 travel days) on the specific dates.

- Applicants must have a secondary education at the minimum level, and preferably have vocational or university studies in education, social sciences, languages, youth work, psychology, or related fields.

- Applicant must have a good command of English ( at least B1 level), and be willing to learn the local language.

- A work or volunteering with children or youth, non-formal education, tutoring, or community projects is preferred but not mandatory.

- Having the ability to deliver simple lessons, run activities, manage groups, and use non-formal methodologies.

Interpersonal skills: empathy, patience, cultural awareness, teamwork, adaptability, and strong communication abilities.

- Having basic ICT competence; ability to create simple digital content (presentations, videos) and use online reporting tools.

- Be responsible, resilient, proactive, and respectful of local cultures and safeguarding policies.

- Having a valid passport, the ability to obtain the required visas, a clear background check (child protection/criminal record), and references.

- Willingness to complete pre-departure training, participate in evaluations, maintain a learning portfolio, and obtain the Youthpass certificate.


Expenses and Benefits

- Free accommodation will be provided in shared rooms, with basic equipped rooms and common facilities such as bathrooms and kitchen; access to a washing machine and internet. 

- Each volunteer is entitled to receive 3 meals per day, provided by the hosting organisation, in accordance with the special dietary needs of the volunteer. Daily food allowance will be provided for the free days and/or other days as agreed with the hosting association.

- International transportation is covered as well as local transportation, via the most cost-effective travel route, within the budgetary limit of the grant, as follows:
  • from 10 – 99 km - 56 EUR (Green Travel)/ 28 EUR (Non-Green Travel)
  • from 100 – 499 km - 285 EUR (Green Travel)/ 211 EUR (Non-Green Travel)
  • from 500 – 1999 km - 417 EUR (Green Travel)/ 309 EUR (Non-Green Travel)
  • from 2000 – 2999 km - 395 EUR (Green Travel)/ 535 EUR (Non-Green Travel)
  • from 3000 – 3999 km - 785 EUR (Green Travel)/ 580 EUR (Non-Green Travel)
  • from 4000 – 7999 km is 1188 EUR (Non-Green Travel)

- Participants are entitled to receive a YouthPass certificate after the project, where you are expected to self-assess your own learning, and you can add it to your CV.

Step 3: Those who pass the test can be invited to a face-to-face course for 5 days in a training center in France, Germany, Italy, or Spain.
