About ISTernship Program
The ISTernship (“IST” + “(int)ernship“) is a summer internship program that started in 2013 and hosts every year 30-40 undergraduate and master’s students who want to expand their skills and expertise in scientific research. Students will work closely with faculty and laboratory members on a short research project for a period ranging from two to three months in Graduate school office at IST Austria.
Upon arrival, ISTerns receive an introduction to research at IST Austria as well as an introduction to the IST Austria Graduate School. The program culminates with a research seminar, in which ISTerns present their work to their peers, faculty, and lab mentors. The courses are full-time and will be conducted exclusively in English.
Graduate IST Austria
The Institute of Science and Technology of Austria is an international research institute in the natural and mathematical sciences, located in Maria Gogging, Klosterneuburg, 20 km northwest of the Austrian capital Vienna. It was established and opened by the Lower Austria Provincial Government and the Austrian Federal Government in 2009.
Finance
- All travel Expenses will be covered.
- Free accommodation is available on the IST Campus. If you are not given a room or if you prefer accommodation in Vienna, mark your interest in the relevant field on your scholarship document (sent by OeAD) and you will be linked to the OeAD Housing Office who will provide Vienna accommodation for you.
- All participants will get Monthly stipend in addition to affordable health insurance.
- Free access to the IST Austria shuttle bus with hourly service to Vienna.
Eligibility
- Candidates from all countries can apply.
- Candidates must me enrolled in Bachelor or Master of Science. they must have completed at least 2 years of their bachelor's studies before the respective start date.
- Students who are interested in basic research in the fields of biology, computer science, data science & scientific computing, mathematics, physics, neuroscience, chemistry & materials, and interdisciplinary areas, are encouraged to apply.
- No language certificates are mandatory for the application.
- You may upload a language certificate for English if you want to.
