An excellent opportunity for those who are interested in political work in the early and middle years of their careers from all countries around the world to improve their professional skills in this field by participating in Policy Leader Fellowship which organized by the European University Institute in Florence, Italy.
About Policy Leader Fellowship
It is an international programme for early and mid- careers participants from all around the world. The participants will get the chance to interact with policy makers and other fellows and the Academic Community of European University Institute. The fellowships last for five or ten months. The candidates can choose their preference during applying, but once selected for a specific start date and period,you can't change.
Finance and Benefits
- Fellows must resident in Florence for the duration of their fellowship with possibility of short visits outside Florence and Italy.
- The basic grant is 2500 euro per month.
- A household allowance of up to 300 euro monthly is paid to a Fellow with a companion if the companion lives with you in Florence and on the condition that the partner's income is less than 2,000 euro per month.
- Fellows receive reimbursement for the incoming trip to and from Florence (The maximum amount for travel reimbursement amounts to 1,200 euro).
Required Documents
- Your CV in PDF. Additionally, a short Biography is asked in the application form with round 100-200 words around 800 characters with spaces.
- Motivation Letter with max. 1000 words in PDF.
- Work-plan with title (max. 1500 words) in PDF, describing what you hope to achieve during the fellowship.
- A copy of the highest educational certificate in PDF.
- Reference letter with the the name of on referee, Ideally someone who has worked with the applicant. Preference should be given to non- academic referees.
- Candidates should submit 1-3 sample/s of their work (e.g. a policy paper/report/brief, an article, an op-ed, a weblink, interview, social media piece, blogpost etc.) to assist exhibit the interest and ambition of the candidate.
- All documents ought to be in English language.

Duration
The fellowships last for 5 or 10 months and start date is September 1st, 2022.
Eligibility
- All Candidates can apply from all countries around the world.
- No Age limit.
- Early- or mid-career professionals (e.g. in politics, civil service, media and non-governmental organisations), capable of exhibit both professional experience and potential for future excellence in the policy sphere.
- Genuinely engaged people involved in policy issues, in particular the ones associated with transnational governance.
- Self-motivated, able to present a clear work plan for the fellowship to show what the applicant will achieve and how this work will have a ‘multiplier’ effect after the fellowship.
- The expected level of English proficiency is level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).
- An English certificate is not asked as part of the application, but successful candidates will be invited for an interview in English and asked to provide a certificate or supporting document on registration.
